12 Months In...
As I reflect on my first year at Booz Allen Hamilton, it’s clear that this journey has been one of tremendous growth both professionally and personally. It’s been one of the most rewarding years of my career, filled with challenges, triumphs, and some surprises along the way.
When I walked through the doors on day one, I had my doubts. Would Booz Allen live up to its reputation? Or would it be like meeting your favorite celebrity only to find out their off-screen personality doesn’t quite match the hype? Spoiler alert: Booz Allen exceeded my expectations in every way.
That first week, imposter syndrome definitely made an appearance. But as I started to get my bearings, I realized my past experiences had prepared me for this role. I began sharing ideas, driving process improvements, and was met with open minds and open doors. Each success gave me the confidence to dive deeper into my work with excitement and passion.
Now, that doesn’t mean it’s been all smooth sailing there were personal challenges along the way. But my work, and especially the incredible people I’ve had the privilege to work with, brought me a sense of fulfillment. I’ve always heard the saying, "Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life." I didn’t think I’d experience that, but here I am embracing the challenges, setbacks, and successes. One of the proudest moments for me was being promoted to new role that will allow me to continue to do what I love. It’s a testament to the support of my amazing team and the opportunities Booz Allen has provided for growth and development. This milestone has been a reminder that hard work, perseverance, and a great support system can take you far.
Everyone’s journey is different, but I’m incredibly grateful for mine. I’ve met some of the most passionate and driven individuals, and their energy is infectious. On those tough days when things feel overwhelming, I know I can rely on my team, and that keeps me going.
Here’s to the next 12 months—excited for what’s ahead!
