** 🤔Is it just me, or has the standard of service in the hospitality industry dropped to an all-time low? Last night, we had a great dinner at a five-star hotel restaurant. The meet-and-greet was on point—lovely staff, friendly, and directed us to our table. Drinks and food orders were taken quickly, and water was poured right away. Food arrived promptly. So, what’s the issue? It’s the small details that were missing. No one topped up our water, checked if we wanted more drinks, or asked how our meal was after the first couple of mouthfuls. These are the basics I used to drill into my own staff. They seem small, but they ensure an overall great experience and drive additional sales—something the hospitality industry could really use right now. And this isn’t an isolated incident. It’s been happening more often, across different places. In a world where customers can easily cook restaurant-quality meals at home, the ultimate experience is all about service and attention to detail.
