The Most Curious Person in Multifamily I Being Curious about Investing and Operations. Posts are about my curious journey.
Great Property Managers Were Assistant Managers First Why it's important Without assistant property managers how will companies hire property managers? Like it or not there is an organic career trajectory in multifamily management. It starts with a leasing position, then you get promoted to assistant property manager, then property manager and then regional property manager. Many of the top executives in the industry followed this path. The same goes for regionals and property managers. There are multifamily management companies that are removing the APM position. That will disrupt the organic career trajectory. I can't picture hiring a property manager that wasn't an APM beforehand. What are your thoughts?

I'm sure we are all familiar with the saying never assuming (yes, that one) so I thought I'd heed the advice. I'm seeking a sales leader. I thought of two candidates who would be superb but conscious their careers have moved on to Managing Director and General Manager respectively, so I approached both with a 'look, you're probably not going to be interested - but……' (I know, that's an assumption right there) and both responded along the lines of 'you know what Andy? I am interested. I'm so sick of being pulled in a thousand directions and stressing over audits / accounts / insurance / landlords / premises / inventory etc etc. Just give me a clearly defined role with a clear mission objective'. There's a lesson in there I'm sure. Have you reflected similarly over your career at times? #Recruitment #HiringProcess #JobSearch #executivesearch
