"Quiet Quitting": will the gender affirming model ultimately just wither away, as institutions and professionals distance themselves from the high risks it now poses? LGBT Courage Coalition write: "Ideally, leaders in pediatric care, endocrinology, surgery, and psychology would acknowledge the lack of evidence supporting these interventions and publicly admit the potential for irreparable harm. They should endorse the thorough and reputable Cass Review and publicly condemn the harmful and unethical growth of pediatric gender medicine in the United States. The American Academy of Pediatrics could have taken a leading role by publishing a similar systematic review of the evidence. "Unfortunately, most organizations will likely choose the path of quiet quitting to avoid liability and public conflict. The courage to admit the harmful nature of these interventions is beyond the reach of many institutions". Read the article via the link in first comment.

As we mark #InternationalWomensDay, let's honour the legacy of Dr Rupa Bai Furdoonji, the first female £anaesthesiologist who specialised in Chloroform £anaesthesia in 1891. Today, we're inspired by the increasing number of women in anaesthesiology, taking on leadership roles and breaking new ground. At the ESAIC, we're committed to fighting gender bias in healthcare. Through education, accountability, and policy reform, we're dedicated to building a more equitable and inclusive healthcare system. Achieving gender equality in healthcare is not only a noble fight but a critical step towards enhancing patient outcomes and health equity. The article "Women in Anaesthesia: Is the future bright?" by Mia Gisselbaek, Becki Marsh, Odmara L. Barreto Chang, Prof. Dr. med. Today we’re talking with Gretchen Sisson, a research sociologist with Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. Listen to the episode here: https://lnkd.in/eNCBPngZ She is the author of Relinquished: The Politics of Adoption and the Privilege of American Motherhood, a critical, ten-year examination of domestic adoption. Centering on the stories of relinquishing mothers, the book chronicles America's refusal to care for families at the most basic level, and instead allows cultural and political ideas of adoption to advance an individual, private solution to large-scale social problems. Our conversation critically considers the function adoption has in our society, who it serves, who it fails, and who lives with the trauma as a result. We also discuss adoption representation in shows like This is Us and 16 and Pregnant and how the women whom Gretchen spoke with feel like The Handmaid’s Tale is the closest representation of their experience relinquishing their child. Here is a link to find out more about Gretchen's book: https://lnkd.in/earzXmBM
