Another weekend well spent at Open Kitchen Café next to the People's History Museum holding #ClimateConversations with our #GreaterManchester Community on behalf of Global Shapers Manchester last weekend! Jerryl Ong Jun Wey, Hongzheng You, Theodor Bratosin & I were *so* engrossed in our chats that we forgot to take a picture in the café - but you can see how energised we were post-surveying 💚 We will be back at Open Kitchen Café today, Hulme Garden Centre tomorrow & Bounceback Food CIC Kitchen in Altrincham on Tuesday for their pancake party (details in comments) 🥞 Have you had a Climate Conversation yet? We are looking to find out what people in Greater Manchester know about climate change - and what action they want seen taken about it. With a 1,000 response goal, we’re already 7.7% of the way there after just two weeks - wow! Want to get involved? There’s 3 easy ways 🐝 📋 Take the survey: https://lnkd.in/eFTEGcKF 🤙 Share the survey on social media or over email (message me for templates!) 📇 Connect us to community groups or spaces where we could bring the survey!* We’ve got more surveying adventures in store to hold conversations all around the 10 boroughs - hit us up to have a conversation! 🌍🗣💙💚 * This could be food banks, community centres, libraries, faith-based organisations, sports clubs, culture spots, cafes, community gardens, festivals and events… anywhere people spend time, where we can say hello without getting in the way. We’d also love to ‘give’ as much as we ‘take’ by providing talks, programming or some events - this is all about building a shared community 🤝

Flxpoint knows how to have a kickoff. Custom throwback t's—upbeat presentations—and plenty of time for the team to unwind. Here is a quick highlight reel we put together for their team.
This year’s company kickoff was unlike any other. We got a chance to host it in the old beach house where Flxpoint was born. Luckily for us our ole “lemon house” was recently converted into a private event space and was the perfect venue for a kickoff that featured a nostalgic theme looking at the evolution of the company. Love #jaxbeach, Love our team. #creedcoverband #jacksonvilleflorida #jacksonvillejobs #jacksonville #neptunebeach

📖 Author of 'Designing Creative Communities' | Facilitator | Community Builder I Founder of My Creative Community, 3 Dots, the co.space, & New Leaf
Had a great day with the Sunbury Revitalization team this weekend! A few weeks ago, I ran a training for their team and facilitated a dinner for local businesses. On Saturday, we built upon that momentum and hosted a community block party to collect the ideas, stories, and dreams of local residents when thinking about the future they want to create for their downtown. Here’s how we did it. We leveraged an approach I call the 3P’s: Pause, Possibility, Participation. We started with music, big colorful flags, and free cookies and popcorn. That was enough to cause people to pause and wonder what was going on. The first step is to always disrupt people’s routine. Next we invited them complete three simple stations that all were designed to show what’s possible in their town. Station 1: What I Appreciate… They wrote down what they appreciated about Sunbury on 60 cards that broke down their town into small aspects (safety, education, street lights, events, senior life, transportation, etc). Station 2: What I Hope to See… They added their ideas through post it notes and mini lego structures that they placed on a giant map print out of their downtown. Station 3: What We Can Co-create… They placed stickers on a mosaic to reveal an image that symbolized their future. Each sticker was a photo that neighbors had previously taken highlighting all of the aspects of their town they most love - it included people, businesses, places, events, and historic photos. After they completed each station, they were invited to share their information in a raffle to win gift cards to local businesses. On the raffle ticket, we invited them to share how they’d like to further participate in downtown revitalization efforts. It was such a fun event and we had an amazing turn-out, far more than the organizing team had hoped for. I love seeing communities come together in ways like this and how simple events can inspire a multitude of other ways they could creatively engage their community. Big thanks to the team for inviting me in to help guide the process alongside you all. #community #facilitation #placemaking #downtownrevitalization

Celebrating Community Creativity and Transformation in the Kimberley Region! 🌟 Today, we're thrilled to share our video featuring Clancy McDowall, the Executive Officer for the Kimberley Arts Network (KAN). Clancy's words resonate with the spirit of our region and the incredible journey of KAN. We had the pleasure to spend some time with them and felt so inspired. Founded in late 2018, KAN has blossomed into a vital hub for the arts in the Kimberley. From running workshops and programs to supporting local creativity, KAN has truly enlivened our region's cultural landscape. The pivotal moment came in 2021, when KAN needed its own space. The discovery and transformation of an old scout hall in Broome, leased on a peppercorn agreement, marked a new chapter. Despite its dilapidated state, the community, supported by a Kimberley Development Commission RED grant, transformed it into a vibrant arts hub. This space is more than just a building; it's a testament to the Kimberley's creative spirit. It provides office, workshop, and social event spaces, fostering collaboration and growth. It is unlocking a whole lot of opportunities for KAN and the community. The journey doesn't end here. With the successful completion of the grant, KAN is set to expand its capacity, promising an even brighter future for arts in Kimberley. How do you think arts and cultural initiatives can contribute to the livability and economic development of a region? Have you seen similar transformations in your community? Exciting news from San Jose as the city welcomes the Off the Grid Food Market, a fantastic initiative that's redefining the local social scene! This weekly event marries the allure of food trucks, live music, and community spirit into one vibrant gathering, thanks to a unique partnership with Gordon Biersch's Night Market. It's not just about indulging in a variety of cuisines; this market is a powerful engine for social interaction, economic revitalization, and cultural enrichment, providing a platform for small businesses and local artists to shine. As residents like Sergio Medina find a pet-friendly space to enjoy the diversity and Quentin Perry highlights the importance of supporting local businesses, it's clear this market is more than just a place to eat—it's a community hub fostering connections and celebrating San Jose's dynamic culture. With the support of Mayor Matt Mahan and initiatives like the Downtown Block Party series, San Jose is setting a vibrant example of how community engagement and innovative partnerships can create lively urban spaces that bolster economic recovery and enhance the social fabric. #SanJoseSocialScene #CommunityEngagement #LocalBusinessSupport #CulturalRichness #EconomicRevitalization https://ayr.app/l/MHSs
