Networking events and conferences can feel awkward AF at times… But the mesh conference was the opposite of this experience. The way that it was designed and structured is what made it different… From a networking perspective, most attendees were curious and collaborative… I’ve learned that the initial engagement of a conversation can be awkward at times but what gets me excited is facilitating introductions based on the new connections that I make 🤝 From an agenda perspective, it alternated between a panel / speaker to a networking break and then we ended on a high-note with Meghan Donohoe and Sabrina Sullivan (she / her) facilitating an engaging and insightful conversation about how unsustainable leadership currently is especially in a complex world full of adaptive challenges. 📣 Now, for the shout outs: Thank you Paisley Churchill for telling me about this conference! Thank you Digital Alberta for doing a giveaway and selecting me as one of the winners 🙏 Alicia Kalozdi MacMillan Chris Hogg Sheri Moore, you and your team crushed it! To all of the incredible new connections that I’ve made at this event, I can’t wait to see where some of these synergies will take us! 🎉To the speakers, it is inevitable that I’m going to miss a few speakers, but a huge kudos to all of you for creating an engaging experience: Leen Li, CPA, CMA Pauline Chan Lauren J Dwyer, PhD Sabrina Sullivan (she / her) Meghan Donohoe April Hicke Brenda Beckedorf Jodi Kovitz Lana A. Dubinskiy Jenny Kay Pollock Avery Francis Mohamed Z. Margo Purcell Claire Dixon Paisley Churchill Tim Carwell Lulu Mashonganyika I’m walking away from this event further inspired to: - Do cool sh*t with cool people and share the cool sh*t that they do. - Further clarify the impact that I want to help leaders and organizations make as they navigate the complex space of change and the evolution of technology. This year is shaping up to be unforgettable as I gear up to attend two phenomenal conferences: the ACHCA & DNP of Color. It's a huge honor for me to be part of such significant events. Though I might not be on the schedule as a speaker, rest assured, my voice will find its way to be heard. 🎙️✨ But wait, there's more! When you spot me with my camera and microphone, ready to dive into the crowd, know that I'm there to capture your story. I'll be asking: What brought you to the conference? What do you hope to gain from this experience? And as we part ways, your reflections on the event. However, if there's a need for a stand-in moderator or panel guest, know that I'm on standby, ready to step in. Your journey, insights, and experiences are what I aim to highlight. 📸💬 Let’s make these conferences more than just gatherings; let’s turn them into platforms where every voice is heard and every story is valued. See you there, and remember, I'm eager to hear from you! #ACHCA #DNPOfColor #HealthcareConference #Nurse #HealthcareNetworking #HealthCareProfessionals #Leadership #HealthCare #Team #healthcareconsultant

Two simple questions have improved the quality and engagement of our events significantly... Jens Heitland asked them when we planned our leadership conference. We have been asking these questions ever since... 1. What do you want your attendees to feel when they go home after your event? 2. What do you want them to tell others? They seem simple, but they are not. Let’s start with the first question. 1. What do you want your attendees to feel when they go home after your event? Do you want your attendees to feel that they learned something? Is it inspiration you seek? Is it the feeling they met interesting peers? That they learn more about your services as an organizer? Every ‘feeling’ has a different route. If you seek inspiration, get a keynote speaker that climbed Mount Everest or sailed across the ocean. If you want your attendees to feel a deeper connection with the other attendees, drop the keynote speaker but focus on networking activities and do this in a meaningful way. Focus on the two most important ‘feelings’ and plan your event with the desired feeling in mind. The second question looks holistically at your event. 2. What do you want your attendees to tell others about your event? That they work with their own team and put the learnings they picked up at your event into action? That your event stood because you did something completely different? For example you had a unique location. You made your guests cook and create their own dinner. You got them out of their comfort zone by doing a breathwork exercise? To tell their peers, to come to the next event because they met so many interesting people? Julie Nieuwenhuys told us after one of our events. "I have been too many events and I have listened too many incredible speakers. But I will always remember Matchr’s event as I did breathwork for the first time and I will never forget this." Start with these two questions and you will improve any event. This picture is taken of Jurgis Didžiulis in action at our leadership conference last week. We ended dancing and singing at the end of the conference. What do you think our attendees felt and told others about our event 💃? What is the best event you ever been too and why?
