Helpful insight from my colleague, Jaide Kassam, on how the federal Conservatives are not only getting their message out to younger Canadians, but are also winning many over. To see the whole episode, the link is posted right below: https://lnkd.in/gw-j-_xy
“Gen Z is the generation that grew up in technology. Now, we are using platforms to help advocate and engage others for topics we care about.” Jaide Kassam, a Junior Consultant from the Ontario practice, appeared on TVO's show "The Agenda with Steve Paikin" to discuss the increasing support for the Conservative Party among young people in Canada and the role social media is playing in boosting that support. #socialmedia #youth #technology #cdnpoli #WellingtonAdvocacy

However, we continue to face significant challenges that need our collective action and awareness. Here are some of the most pressing civic rights issues today: 1. Freedom of Speech and Assembly - Issue: In some regions, activists and journalists face censorship, harassment, and imprisonment for speaking out against injustices. - Action: Advocate for policies that protect freedom of expression and support organizations defending these rights. 3. Economic Inequality - Issue: Economic disparities affect access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and housing, disproportionately impacting marginalized groups. - Action: Support initiatives aimed at closing the economic gap and ensuring equal opportunities for all. 4. Digital Rights and Privacy - Issue: Privacy, data security, and surveillance are growing concerns in the digital age, especially for vulnerable populations. - Action: Advocate for stronger data protection laws and ethical use of technology. 5. Immigration Rights - Issue: Immigrants and refugees face harsh policies, family separations, and detentions, with limited paths to citizenship and protections. - Action: Support humane immigration policies and organizations working to protect immigrants' rights. 6. Police Brutality and Accountability - Issue: Police violence and lack of accountability for misconduct remain critical issues, necessitating reform. - Action: Advocate for police reform, transparency, and accountability measures. 7. Access to Healthcare - Issue: Unequal access to healthcare services and disparities in treatment quality based on race, gender, and socioeconomic status highlight the need for comprehensive healthcare reform. - Action: Support policies that ensure equitable healthcare access for all. 8. Racial Discrimination - Issue: Systemic bias against people of color persists in law enforcement, employment, education, and housing. - Action: Support anti-discrimination laws and initiatives promoting racial equality. This report explores the critical issue of problematic #democratic participation in #Europe, marked by the emergence of "civic deserts" and "regional #development traps." It introduces "civic cohesion" as a #framework to revitalize #civic engagement, addressing regional #participation disparities and promoting the role of civic infrastructure and literacy. The paper suggests viewing civic #cohesion as a fundamental European principle, integrated into EU #policies and programs, notably its Cohesion Policy. It underscores the political costs of unaddressed civic #challenges, such as increased support for #Eurosceptic movements, and advocates for place-based policies prioritizing social well-being and civic engagement alongside #economic growth. https://lnkd.in/efNaNuQ5

Trans Votes Are Powerful. This shouldn't be a controversial statement, and it certainly shouldn't have made me do a double take. My "tiny" community? This group of people whose very existence is constantly questioned? This sub-population of LGBTQIA+ folks who experience marginalization even from our own cisgender queer siblings? Powerful? The truth of the matter is that we ARE powerful. We are small AND mighty. We are leaders, change makers, engaged citizens, compassionate advocates, caring allies. We are real people with real lives, we are human beings, and we matter. If your organization is looking for impactful DEI programming while preparing for or following the election, please reach out! Together, we are even more powerful. https://lnkd.in/dAxy2jEe
