As we expand our focus on professional and NIL athletes, I'm excited that Adam Harz and Brandon Peters will represent IronBridge Wealth Counsel, LLC, in Indianapolis at the upcoming NFL combine, which starts this week. Having worked with professional athletes over my 20-year career, I have learned there are a few areas that are unique when it comes to planning for elite professional athletes: 🎯 Focus is paramount. Honing in on the key financial priorities versus the distractions that abound is difficult, and having a trusted team of specialists in coordination with family and friends that can shoot it straight is huge. 💰 Receiving large, lump sums of money is difficult. Exciting yes, but this financial windfall now needs to last not just your working years but for the rest of your life. Proper modeling and having a financial game plan are needed. Your life changes; have a plan that can change with it. Hope is not a strategy for creating forever wealth. 🤼 Lots of people will be explicitly or implicitly trying to wrestle your financial security from you. It will appear in the form of friends, family, entrepreneurs, etc. who see you as an avenue to fund their dreams and good times. You need a NO person. It can be emotionally draining to hold the fort yourself. 😎 Planned properly, this can be generational wealth that answers three questions: 1) am I going to be okay, 2) is my family going to be okay, and 3) can I help my community as well. Good luck to all the athletes, and if you are in Indy as well, hit up Adam and Brandon; I know they are always open to connecting with good people that share our vision and values.

Founder | Elevating Your Wealth-Building Game Plan with Integrity, Knowledge & Passion | Building Wealth is by Choice Not Chance.
𝐉-𝐄-𝐓-𝐒… 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐤, 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐤, 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐤! As a Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium fan, there’s nothing I enjoy more than watching the New York Jets get destroyed. Last night? Brutal. Sure, Aaron Rodgers might be past his prime, but let’s be real—their strategy is the real problem. No matter how talented the players, a weak game plan guarantees a loss. It’s the same with your finances. You can have all the tools and resources, but without a solid strategy, you’re going nowhere—or worse, getting sacked by life’s financial blitz. So, what’s your financial game plan? Are you moving toward your goals, or just sitting on the sidelines hoping for a win? Remember, talent isn’t enough. Champions—and wealth—are 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. #WealthBuilding #GamePlan #FinancialSuccess #StrategyMatters #ChoiceNotChance

This month, I have opted to briefly write on a topic I have tried to understand for the better part of a year - Multi-Club Ownership. MCO is a phenomenon that continues to grow and garner Private Equity interest, as sports investors continue to acquire majority and minority stakes in several football clubs. In my piece, I attempt to make the concept somewhat "simple" and engaging for readers, and I do hope you enjoy reading it. Here's a link to the newsletter: https://lnkd.in/ewfaB5-E

Strategic Counselor, Trusted Advisor & Advocate™; USArmy Veteran; Civic, Business & Faith Leader; Philanthropist; Thought-Leader; Speaker; Author; Industry President; Private Company Director; DuPont Co Corp Dvpt Exec;
(1) #CollegeFootball sews the seeds of its own Irrelevance in its lust for #BigMoney, (2) in the absence of any meaningful oversight of #StateEmployee Budgets and Spending by #ElectedOfficials, with commensurate #Legal and #Financial Commitments, #Risk and Exposure, (3) while the Decay of the #StudentAthlete concept is complete, (4) leading to the inevitable attrition of #Fan Support, the chain of events that one concludes from this great #WashingtonPost #Sports Guest Column Wed 16 Oct by #StevenGodfrey. I've been a #CollegeFootball fan since Saturday afternoons 60 years ago as a HS Student spent watching #DickButkus in #UniversityOfIllinois #OrangeAndBlue under the tutelage of the famously un#Woke #ChiefIllini (now deposed in the necessary academic tribute to #Woke status), back when the best 11 players started all positions. #Butkus was famously an #AllAmerican #MiddleLinebacker, but also #Center on Offense as an #Illini! While the #BigConference survivors #BigTen and #SEC still fill the stands on Saturday, #Fandom appears less and less engaged. Attendance at our own #UniversityOfDelaware, once preeminent in #MiddleMarketCollegeFootball, has shrunk to almost half of what it used to be. It's likely a decade since I took a Saturday afternoon in #Newark! One #Southernese pundit invoked the great #AtlantaJournalConstitution columnist Lewis Grizzard: It's "like watching 2 mules fight over a turnip, nobody cares"! I confess to ThrowBack #Romantic tendencies when it comes to #CollegeFootball, true #StudentAthletes fighting for the glory of #AlmaMater, whose corpse now appears deceased, simply awaiting the pronouncement and the undertaker. "Who cares?" Those so-called #StudentAthletes today are there following the money, without a moment of #UniversityLoyalty -- our college song was called #IllinoisLoyalty! -- beyond the #Saturday paycheck. Such a shame! Adios!

The Varsity 1. The National Football League (NFL) seems certain to allow private equity to take up to 10% stakes in their leagues this year. It won't be a surprise if that PE ownership cap gets raised to 30% eventually. 2. In the wake of Skydance and RedBird Capital Partners’ deal to acquire Paramount, the NFL is exploring whether to use a change-of-control provision to renegotiate the NFL’s $2.1 billion annual deal with CBS. 3. It was strange to see USA Basketball on FS1 Wednesday night. Why wasn't it on an NBC Sports outlet? 4. It certainly feels like we're getting close to the end of the National Basketball Association (NBA)'s media talks. But negotiations could continue for several more weeks. 5. Carol Stiff on all the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) reporting: “I would like to see the headline read NBA and WNBA Rights instead of just the NBA. Perhaps even a quote from WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert will be included high in the release? The time seems right to me.” Plus, Player of the Week: Bill Koenig Down to the J.V.: CONMEBOL And...The good news is that Comcast and Diamond are talking again. The bad news is that plenty of hiccups still remain. Can they work out a deal before Diamond's July 29 bankruptcy court hearing? https://lnkd.in/eqiGrjPy
