WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT SCALE… Today we are excited to launch the first knowledge product in #PreventionGlobal’s Deep Dive Series... *SCALABILITY* Child sexual abuse is preventable. And yet it remains a huge – but solvable – global problem. So, how can we tackle such a big and complex issue? A deep understanding of risk for perpetration provides the best chance of preventing abuse before it happens. We need to know on which risk factors to intervene. We need to assess the best ways to prevent abuse, at scale. And we need to act with speed. Te Aorerekura, the National Strategy to Eliminate Family Violence and Sexual Violence, outlines six key system shifts. Each of the shifts are interconnected, and acknowledge the range of issues that either drive, or protect against, these forms of violence. The first shift is towards strength-based wellbeing. This recognises that people who have experienced violence have strengths and resources that can be built on to support their healing and recovery. It is important to acknowledge and build on these strengths to support people to live free from violence. Check out the Te Puna Aonui website for more information on these shifts. https://lnkd.in/gRs4Hspj

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence does not discriminate based on geographic location, age, income, or any such factor. Like with cancer, awareness and open conversations are a crucial part (yet not the only part) if we are to hope for better outcomes. May we all hope and work towards better outcomes. #DomesticViolenceAwareness
