UDL emphasizes the importance of student-led learning, creativity, and flexibility to adapt to any educational setting, regardless of resources. This approach is vital globally, especially in under-resourced educational environments where innovation must bridge the gap imposed by material limitations. "Pays Cible" 🎯 - a concept to #foster collaboration between two higher education and research regions. This year, Switzerland had the pleasure to be invited as "pays cible" by Académie de recherche et d'enseignement supérieur - ARES. A Swiss delegation of IRO respresentatives of Swiss higher education institutions met their colleagues from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in April in Brussels. https://lnkd.in/gMURCCae The main goal was to foster the #understanding of the respective higher education and research landscapes 🔎, to learn from each other's #expertise 🗨 and to develop academic #collaboration between the two regions. One of the fruits 🍒 of this exchange is a factsheet which we would like to share! ❔ ❓ ❔ A question to our colleagues from the Swiss higher education sector: What would be your "pays cible" you would like to get to know better?

In 2019, I was one of the 10 (of 253 applications) across Africa to have been awarded the DAAD research grant and here’s a reminder on how I secured it (1st attempt): You should know I humbly asked a lot of questions from DAAD fellows & scholars; there were quite a few variances in their responses but the commonalities sparked a CHRONOLOGICAL order of thoughts insightful enough to develop a compelling Letter of Motivation (the most important document). The questions I was asked to answer in a ‘paragraphic’ manner included: ✅ Why should I be funded? ✅ How will this fund shape the direction of my career? ✅ Why have I preferred the particular host? ✅ What is so special about the Host’s Department? ✅ Why have I preferred the host country? ✅ Does the host country’s HDI have implications for my career? The next deadline is the 14th of October, 2024; I will run a (FREE) 6 weeks bootcamp to this end. Please ensure you are part of it. 🧶DAAD Link: https://lnkd.in/eyc5ThD9. 🧶NOTE: Sell a compelling story backed by CURRENCY of LITERATURE that fits into the host’s research interest.

So much to reflect on after being selected to attend this year's EERA European Educational Research Association summer school program wiith a titled theme - Decolonise, Democratise, and Develop. It was an opportunity to bond with some powerful academics and scholars out there but also re-evaluate how we do our research in education. Take Adult Education as an example - authors from UK, US, Australia and Canada have authored 66% of all articles published. 85% of the most quoted authors live geographically in those 4 Anglophone countries and 72% are men. So, next time you read an academic or non-academic article about international education in particular - check out the references used, who is given the most platform to address international education issues and are we really writing about international education if our bibliometric data is from the four above-mentioned countries? Some of the many issues to reflect on.
