Every week at Cause Communications we speak to young people whose lives have been turned around by youth workers. Their stories never fail to give me hope at a time when everything feels so bleak. Children spend 84 per cent of their lives outside of school, and yet few of us think about what they're up to until something serious happens, as in Croydon recently. Only when something truly tragic happens does the cry go out for investment in youth services. In the meantime, staff at Youth Zones (state-of-the-art youth clubs) founded by our incredible client OnSide youth charity, are mentoring young people, helping them manage and overcome mental health issues, delivering hot nutritious meals, finding their passion - whether it's laying down tracks or learning a new language - and just enabling them to have fun to the power of 11. Their youth workers perform miracles every single day enthusing children who have the most unimaginably difficult lives just because of where they happened to be born. OnSide have just launched this new video. If you work in #CSR, have a think about funding a program. If you're sitting on millions, help build a Youth Zone in one of the more disadvantaged areas of the country. Or just come and volunteer. Invest in the next generation. Annual Giving February Week One: Here is some information about running and using your list to help you identify your top donors. Once you know who your top donors are, you need to ask yourself these two questions: 1) Why are these donors giving to the mission? 2) How do these donors want to interact with the mission, in the future? Our Meeting with In Sue's Name Today, we had the incredible honor of meeting David Alan Taylor, the inspiring founder of In Sue's Name - a charity that holds a special place in our hearts. This charity was established by David and his family in loving memory of Sue, a remarkable woman who tragically lost her battle with a brain tumour in 2011 at the young age of 42, leaving behind two beautiful children. But today, we're not just here to share Sue's story. We want to introduce you all to something amazing that we've been working on - ⁠Influential Stars✨ with experiences In partnership with ⁠Virgin Experience Days. Our project is set to launch at the end of October 2023, and we couldn't be more excited! 🚀 Our mission is simple: to raise awareness about brain tumours and fundraise for brain tumour charities. But that's not all - we are committed to supporting charities across the entire UK! 🇬🇧 Now, here's where we need your help! David has reached out to all of you, our incredible community, to see if anyone would be interested in volunteering for this project. We need passionate individuals who can lend their expertise in marketing, PR, project management, and so much more. We are in desperate need of your skills and dedication. 💪 We want to be transparent - We are not a registered charity. We are a business, a startup with big dreams. Just like any new venture, we need to wait for funds to come to fruition before we can offer salaries to our team. But fear not, our voluntary work won't last forever. Annual Giving February Week 4: You have been working on your impact piece for quite some time now. And this is the week- it should do into the mail this week or next week. CONGRATULATIONS! You did it! You created a quality piece to tell your donors about the impact of their giving. Now we are going to start a week of transition. We are moving into a key strategic time of the year. Here's your next step: The list... You ran a donor list for your impact piece. This list includes information on people's previous year's giving and their cumulative lifetime giving. This list is gold! Use this list to figure out the top 10% of donors. First you need to determine how many donors you can have conversations with this year- maybe it's 10- maybe it's 20... whatever the number that is great. Now look at the list and figure out the best people to fill those slots - look at the list- who were your biggest givers last year? who are your largest givers over lifetime? These are the people that you are going to get to know better this year. (Don't worry we will work together on how to do this) Here is how to use your impact piece to activate your program: 1) Hand deliver impact piece to the people you identified above. 2) Call and alert the people you identified above that the impact piece is on the way. 3) Check in with these donors to make sure that the giving numbers stated on the impact piece match their records for giving. Our 10th 'Quarter of Caring' is in the books, and it's wonderful to reflect on the incredible impact Apexers made to so many nonprofit orgs! Throughout 2023, between our teams + corporate initiatives: 1.) Hosted 257 #ApexGivesBack events, including volunteering, team fundraisers, drives, and corporate fundraisers/volunteer events 2.) Supported 132 unique nonprofits 3.) Volunteered 5,349 hours 4.) Raised/contributed $189,061 to various orgs 5.) 🏡💔🙏 URGENT HELP NEEDED: Renovation Labor & Support for a Terminal Cancer Patient 💔🏡🙏 Hey Family and Friends, I hope this post finds you well. I am reaching out today with two very important requests, and I hope you can find it in your heart to help us during this challenging time. 1. Renovation Labor Assistance: Some of you may know that I have been campaigning for Joseph Johnson, a 20-year-old young man battling terminal cancer, for several months this year. His strength and resilience have been truly inspiring, but the toll this journey has taken on them and their family is immeasurable. With the limited time we have left together, we are determined to create a more comfortable and functional space for Joseph to spend his remaining days. We're embarking on a renovation project to make Joseph’s home as cozy and accommodating as possible, but we could use all the help we can get. Whether you're skilled in carpentry, plumbing, or painting or have some spare time to lend a hand, your expertise and labor would mean the world to us. Every nail hammered and every coat of paint applied brings us one step closer to providing a warm and loving environment for our friend during this incredibly difficult time. Monetary Contributions: Alongside the renovation, we're also facing considerable medical expenses for Joseph’s care. Despite their unwavering spirit, these costs have become an overwhelming burden for their family. We've set up a fundraiser to help cover the medical expenses, making it easier for anyone who wishes to contribute. Every dollar counts, and no amount is too small.
