Congratulations to ALLG Life Member Professor Harry IIand AM, on his recent presentation at the International Symposium on Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia in Rome, Italy. Prof Iland was invited to speak to a global audience about therapies for Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia (APML) and the Australian experience, where his collaborative approach to research on ALLG clinical trials APML4 and APML5 resulted in a chemotherapy-free treatment for patients with APML. These trials were also instrumental in replacing the previous treatment, intravenous arsenic, with an easier and more effective tablet version. This groundbreaking research revolutionised the treatment of this devasting disease, transforming this once fatal disease to one where over 95% of patients are cured and improving the quality of life for APML patients. ALLG and our members are dedicated to conducting clinical trials that create better treatments and better lives for patients with blood cancers like APML. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆: • He explains his cancer therapy on World Cancer Day.🌍 • He uses powerful words like "bulletproof transplant."💥 • He keeps it simple: no fancy, stiff corporate video. • He keeps it short: 1 minute is good for LinkedIn. ⏳ • I understand his science, even if I'm a layman. • Simple office set-up: a desk, a plant. • What he talks about matters most. • He smiles a lot.😊 And have you seen it?
