👤 Get to know Sandra Orta, General Manager of Bristol Myers Squibb Spain & Portugal, more closely through this interview in La Vanguardia, which reviews part of her career, her particular #leadership philosophy and the Industry's opportunity to generate great impact and transform the world 📌 From her past in management positions in important multinationals and in different countries, to her present where she combines being a single mother with the management of #BMSIberia, Sandra Orta is clear: "I would like my legacy here to have left people happier." ➕ Because in addition to our innovative #Science, strong investment in R&D and the 136 clinical trials we currently have underway to positively impact #patients and respond to their unmet needs, our General Manager puts the focus on #diversity and the transformation of BMS' corporate #culture. 🗨️ "Companies are too hierarchical, but the whip doesn't work," Orta stresses. Instead, as a manager, she tries to "be one of the team, give them a voice and think about how I can help them. This strategy has worked for me everywhere: people feel more supported, work harder and with more enthusiasm. Facilitating Enterprise Culture, Strategy & Values - Public Speaker - Cultural Trailblazer - Mentor - Corporate Internal & External Engagement - Shortlisted at 2022-23 European🇪🇺& 2023 British🇬🇧Diversity Awards
One of the Joys and key benefits of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is its power to drive innovative approaches, new solutions and operational Excellence. I experienced this for myself during many years working in the supply chain industry, and now I’m proud to have the opportunity to focus my career on this topic, as Pfizer’s DE&I Lead for Europe. I’ll be sharing my experiences at LogiPharma 2024 in Lyon - France 🇫🇷, the world’s leading life sciences supply chain conference, as part of a panel discussion on April 17 (https://lnkd.in/d6Y6GzmP). Also appearing at the conference will be my colleague Beatrice Colombo, who is the Site Lead for one of our global supply sites in Ireland, and Co-Chair of Pfizer’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council Europe (DEICE). She will be part of another DE&I-focused panel discussion on April 18 (https://lnkd.in/dV4qrXgm). I find it both exciting and significant that such an important global conference is dedicating so much time on a busy agenda to this important topic – something that would have been inconceivable not so many years ago. This demonstrates that I am not alone in my conviction that a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization is a more successful one, attracting more talent, and gaining a competitive edge over its competitors. But you can never afford to be complacent. You have to work hard to embed these principles in your culture, to show Courage, to speak the same language of the business, at every level of your organization, and you need leadership. At Pfizer, we encourage senior leaders to visibly and vocally endorse our Equity value, alongside other values, and to inspire our colleagues to really bring them to life, every day. So I’d like to thank Beatrice, and leaders from many other organizations, who will be speaking on this topic at LogiPharma 2024, and reminding us all of the transformational power of Equity! #pfecolleague #innovation #powerofdiversity

Facilitating Enterprise Culture, Strategy & Values - Public Speaker - Cultural Trailblazer - Mentor - Corporate Internal & External Engagement - Shortlisted at 2022-23 European🇪🇺& 2023 British🇬🇧Diversity Awards
I was excited and energised by the passion for diversity, equity and inclusion that I encountered on a recent visit to Pfizer Spain – and not just among the members of our excellent Colleague Resource Groups. Importantly, this same commitment was just as clear to see among business leaders. Spain 🇪🇸 has a special significance for us at Pfizer being the European 🇪🇺 location selected for the official launch of our company Values in 2019 by our CEO Albert Bourla with his leadership team. Happy 5th Anniversary 🥳. It was evident both during my visit to the Madrid offices, and again at the Algete PGS site, where I met both business leaders and CRG members. We discussed the importance and the challenges of achieving a truly diverse and inclusive workplace during times of changes – for example, the importance of attracting more women to manufacturing and careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths). I am thankful for having been invited to present during a leadership team meeting for Pfizer’s Western and Eastern 🇪🇺 Clusters, and with the special presence of Janine Small, Executive Co-Sponsor for our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council Europe (DEICE). The presentation has been focused on our Pfizer global DEI strategy and on the key role of Country Managers and Medical Directors plays on our Equity journey. Sincere thanks to DEICE Co-Chair Massimo Visentin and former Co-Chair Ana Paula Carvalho for their authentic allyship and for giving us the opportunity to participate. It is absolutely important that DEI speaks the same language of the business. Our Business leaders are critical to translating our Equity value into reality, by embedding it in everything they do, and making it clear that they expect the same of everyone around them. Of course, they can’t do it alone. Teamwork is vital, and Medical Directors for example are essential to achieving a key pillar of our Global 🌎Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy: encouraging diversity in clinical trials and ensuring our data reflects our diverse patient population. Just in the space of two days, this series of meetings perfectly demonstrated that Equity really is at the heart of life at Pfizer, driven by colleagues at all levels – a great example of our people owning the business. This top-down, bottom-up dedication to Equity, and the unrelenting pursuit of excellence, will be key to our business focus to delivering breakthroughs for our patients and communities. #pfecolleague #valuesdrivencompany #Equity #Excellence #Courage #JOY

WE Matter – that was the message at Pfizer’s joint Western and Eastern European clusters meeting last week. And – thanks to our excellent organizing committee, inspiring speakers and dedicated teams – I’m sure everybody left the meeting feeling visible, valued and inspired to take on 2024. Why do I say that? Well between us, we cover 34 countries across Europe – so many healthcare professionals and countless patients rely on our teams to deliver healthcare solutions in what can sometimes be a challenging environment. But, as the saying goes, “a problem shared is a problem halved” and by coming together – to identify the common challenges (and opportunities!) – we can work as one team to find solutions. Thank you once again to my friend Massimo Visentin for the great partnership. As a leader, there is nothing more strengthening than seeing people’s delighted faces, hearing the fizz of conversation and laughter and feeling the ripple of energy as colleagues come together in person. For Western and Eastern Europe, Pfizer’s #175th year now feels like it has truly begun. The work we do matters to society. The people who shape and deliver that work really matter. #Pfizercolleague #Pfizerproud

How important is #Culture in enabling a #MedicalAffairs transformation? In part three of our Strategy& Medical Affairs leadership discussions with Yan Cai (CVP Clinical, Medical and Regulatory Affairs, International Operations at Novo Nordisk), and Estelle Vester-Blokland (SVP, Medical Head International Markets at Bristol Myers Squibb), the significance of organizational culture takes center stage. Both stress the pivotal role of culture in enabling org change and the importance of maintaining core values while undergoing a change journey: (1) Patient-centric Focus – Gathering the team around the profound impact on patients' lives and making patient-centricity a common goal is key (2) Collaboration as a Cornerstone – Emphasizing x-functional collaboration is key to foster a united approach to success (3) Urgency in Action – Instilling a sense of urgency to deliver life-changing solutions can be a differentiator for both patients and company culture Strategy& PwC #FutureOfHealth Thalita Marinho Christian Kaspar Dr. Jens Neumann Dr. Christoph S Gross Jonas Grefe Kariem Schlieper Iryna (Stadnyk) Scheurlen Nalah Schneider Dr. Marcel Stangier Laura Mace Brian Selvarajah Oguz Ozden Roland Werner Dr. Robert Paffen Matthias Reyntjens Kevin Kalinka Bodo Baumeister Mylène Jeandupeux Burcu Yetkin Dominik Hotz Nicolas Rowan Lingli He, PhD

Kate Lenik - What a pleasure it was to chat with you on Chiesi UK's well being journey! If I were to sum up my key takeaways from our talk , it would be : 1) Don't be afraid to experiment. Fail Fast ! Keep piloting different initiatives to explore what really works for your employees 2) Don't look at well being in isolation. Your approach to link DEI initiatives with Well Being is unique and remarkable. After all, being more inclusive surely must have impact on well being too? 3) I love how well being is a shared responsibility as part of Chiesi's ' Acting as a Force of Good' where one of the behavioral indicators to help your employees live their purpose daily is to ' take care each other because we know we are all responsible for each other's well being '. 4) Last but not least, less is more! It's not about the number of well being initiatives you offer, but about the right ones. Ask your employees what matters to them, give them the opportunity to personalize it! #TopEmployers #TEConf24

Be it in the Land of the Rising Sun or the Land of Opportunities, I saw yet again that colleagues at Boehringer Ingelheim are ONE in patient focus - in every plan and initiative. Over the past few weeks, I had the opportunity to visit colleagues and teams in the US and Japan. I am personally filled with so much learning and experiences that I am grateful to the colleagues that made these visits and meetings meaningful. My colleagues and I return enriched by the vibrant discussions, solution orientation and openness to feedback and sharing. Of all the experiences, there is one that stands out – the power of direct exchange. At the root of every success story was a discussion and a thirst to learn, understand and continuously educate ourselves. That these discussions were centered around holistic care for patients from screening, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis / care was most heartening! In the US, I saw strong collaboration between teams and deep insight into patient perspectives, as they navigate complex and ever-changing healthcare environments. In Japan, I was humbled by the level of partnership, collaboration and commitment that colleagues brought to their work every day. Both teams, in their open and direct exchange are focusing on delivering healthcare accessibility and needs-based treatment. I believe that continuing with such direct exchange with help us bring together insights from across the world on clinical trials, research and public-private partnerships, thus enabling us to harness the power of science and innovation across borders, to deliver value for patients. #Cooperation #Partnerships #PatientCentricity #DirectExchange
