A significant milestone for T&CM in Malaysia! As one of the 179 WHO member states, Malaysia is taking a leading role in setting research policies to gather evidence that will advance Traditional & Complementary Medicine (T&CM) towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and establish a clear direction for T&CM research in the country. It was a privilege to be part of the Research Priorities for T&CM in Malaysia workshop recently, where key areas such as therapeutic claims for traditional herbal products, economic evaluation of T&CM practices, and healthcare financing were highlighted. The identified priority domains—Practice Evaluation, Product Development, Innovation and Education Needs —mark a significant step forward. Collaboration between T&CM and allopathy is essential for building strong scientific evidence and advancing integrated healthcare. It’s inspiring to see Malaysia’s leadership in shaping the future of evidence-based Traditional & Complementary Medicine research, with active engagement from diverse stakeholders.
