Making an Impact We arrived in Paris yesterday and did the #1 item our kids wanted to do first: go to the Eiffel Tower. Our guide told us that the tower was created as part of the 1889 World’s Fair in Paris, a symbolic year as it was the 100th anniversary of the Revolution. France wanted to create the largest structure in the world as part of the Fair, which became the Eiffel Tour. 150 people worked with Gustave Eiffel over 2 years to create. The Eiffel Tower was the world’s largest structure for 41 years. When you think of Paris, the Eiffel Tower is still probably the most iconic landmark most people think of. Think about the economic impact of this structure and it’s ability to attract people from all over the world to visit Paris and France, including us. Global events encompass so much more than many of us might realise. #Expo1889Paris “La dame de fer” was constructed as the centrepiece of the World’s Fair in 1889 and commemorates the oldest leftover of an Expo event. Although initially criticised by those who did not believe in its feasibility nor approved its design, the Eifel Tower became the proof of the largest structure ever build to a height of 300 meter (at that time). #Olympics1924Paris #Olympics2024Paris The interlaced rings have become a symbol uniting five different continents and athletes from around the world for the Olympic Games. This year’s Olympics, exactly 100 years since the Olympics in 1924, show how to reduce an event’s footprint through the reuse and modernisation of significant historical sites. Living the life of somebody who is passionate about world events, many of you will understand that this particular photo has a large meaning to me. Only a few might also know that Paris is very close to my heart. It is the first city I have lived in after I had finished high school. It is the city where I met a lot of people from all over the world and where I experienced how diverse people can be. From that moment onwards I have learned to embrace my own family’s uniqueness and background. From that moments onwards I have travelled the world. Paris, you have done well. Showing the world what you can do and how beautiful you truly are. “You asked for love, you got passion” from bringing the world together to an incredible place along the Seine. DAY 2️⃣0️⃣3️⃣ 🌊 The Titanic Expo: A Journey Beyond Expectations The Titanic Expo exceeded my expectations—both as an ordinary visitor and as someone intrigued by its technical aspects. 🔹 1. Thoughtful Narrative & Balanced Presentation Many exhibitions either serve as well-organised storage or overuse fancy but unnecessary technology. The Titanic Expo struck a perfect balance between storytelling and technology. I was amazed by the number of visitors—around 500 people at the same time, which suggests approximately 7,000-12,000 weekly visitors. Not bad for a paid exhibition covering such a niche, non-business topic. 🔹 2. Immersive Entry Experience Upon entry, you're handed a boarding ticket, stepping into a detailed 4.5-metre Titanic replica, complete with human figures for scale. The journey begins with stories of Swiss passengers who were aboard, supported by newspaper articles from the time. While I'm not Swiss, I found it a clever way to personalise the experience and make the story more relatable. 🔹 3. Captivating Visuals and Interactive Elements The exhibition features: A detailed visualisation of Titanic’s journey (did you know it was afloat only for 5 days?) Authentic photos and findings, along with life-size room replicas Audio guides, activated by pressing numbers on walls A chilling iceberg you can touch, crash animations, and recordings from deep-sea explorations By the end, you'll find yourself feeling the exhibition rather than just observing it. 🔹 4. A Powerful Takeaway Message Throughout the expo, key themes emerge: - The cost of human pride and lack of preparedness - The heroic actions of the crew - Lessons we can apply today to prevent similar tragedies 112 years ago, humanity believed nature could be conquered, thinking we were invincible. This sentiment feels especially relevant today as climate change and green energy initiatives face challenges. 🔹 5.
