Nanoparticles are being researched as a potential delivery system for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) to fight infectious diseases, cancer and genetic disorders. KNAUER is the global leading manufacturer of impingement jet mixing systems for the formulation of LNPs and also offers HPLC systems that can be used for the analysis and quality control of LNP formulations. 💡 Here we demonstrate the development of several analytical methods for the high-throughput analysis of the lipid composition of LNPs. The lipids can be analyzed with a fully porous or a core-shell phase in gradient or isocratic mode. The separation was speed up to a 2 min method. Dr. Rajashree Mayekar Hirlekar, Professor, VESCOP and her co-authors recently published a review article entitled "Perspective on Solid Lipid Nanoparticles as Drug Delivery System for Infectious Diseases" in the 'Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences' (Scopus listed) with an impact factor of 0.97 Solid lipid nanoparticles are a novel approach in the drug delivery system which was first introduced in early 1990s. Their small size, large surface area, high drug loading and the ability to interact with other phases, solid lipid nanoparticles are attractive for improving the performance of pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and other materials. Solid lipid nanoparticles have been proven to be one of the most effective methods of treating infectious diseases (antibiotic-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles). This review emphasizes solid lipid nanoparticles as a delivery system for infectious diseases.
