Hi LinkedIn! It has been awhile, I mindlessly scroll on here often, but this post stopped me in my tracks. This is such a great reminder for us all, in world where we often commend hustle culture this is huge. You do not have to approach each day with thinking of next steps, maybe it is simply coming to work each day to crush it. Maybe it’s finding something new within your duties to elevate, the grass isn’t greener on the other side. I often talk about this with my team, why keep striving for something when you do not know what that is. Look within yourself and your current role, embrace the seasons of feeling confident when coming to work each day. Instead of just going through your day, start looking for the little things and following up with them.

Sometimes, when we try to take that next step in our career, for a variety of reasons it just doesn’t happen. Everything happens for a reason. Don’t introduce negative thoughts such as not feeling good enough instead use that experience as a positive to continue your journey and be better prepared for the next opportunity when it comes along. Control the things you can and don’t worry about the things you can’t.

Could it be that opportunity is closer than you think? It's staggering how many people overlook the potential for advancement within their existing roles or companies. Before you search for greener pastures, ask yourself if you've tapped into all the opportunities on your doorstep. Consider taking on internal projects or temporary assignments; seize the chance to showcase your abilities beyond your day-to-day responsibilities. By doing so, you don't just gain exposure but also valuable insights about other departments and roles within your organisation. Don't underestimate the power of networking within your company too. Reach out to colleagues in different disciplines or seniority levels - these relationships can unearth hidden opportunities and offer unique perspectives on career advancement. Remember, real growth often comes from stepping out of our comfort zones and embracing versatility. Invigorate your career without changing employers; it could be your ticket to fast-tracked success. Have you ever found a golden opportunity right under your nose?

I face many challenges daily, but there's one task that never gets easier: telling a candidate that they haven't been selected. It's a moment filled with empathy and regret, knowing that someone’s hopes and dreams are tied to this job opportunity. Delivering this news is one of the toughest feelings in the world. Each candidate brings their unique story, aspirations, and dedication to the table, and to inform them that it’s a "no" this time around is heart-wrenching. It's not just about delivering a professional message; it's about acknowledging their effort and potential while offering them encouragement for the future. Behind every application is a person striving for a better opportunity, and each "no" feels deeply personal. Navigating this part of my role with sensitivity and compassion is crucial, yet it remains an emotional and challenging experience every single time. To all those who've faced rejection: your skills and talents are valued. This isn't the end of your journey; it’s a stepping stone. Keep pushing forward, and the right opportunity will come your way.
