Our brothers and sisters in arms call us Ravens, Crows, Wizards, names spoken with a sense of knowing but never fully understood. The pride it gives me is unmatched, yet our craft often remains hidden in a shadow. I’ve always felt we needed something to unite us, something that captures the pride I see in all of us who walk this path. An oath that will stand the test of time, one worthy of being recited in the halls of Valhalla. I believe this captures it. This is my oath. Week 47 Challenge: ‘Asset Protection’ 61 years ago today, Nov 22, President JFK was assassinated. While some may find this week’s game challenge to be in bad taste, I believe it is important to both remember and learn from history. Asset protection is a critical component in warfare, and the recent assassination attempts against our now elected 47th president highlight this. Objective: the Red player’s objective is to escort the VIP game piece to each corner of the game board and then return it to the starting corner without loss of the VIP; the Blue player objective is to eliminate the the VIP game piece. Setup: Red player begins with setting the VIP game piece in the bottom right corner of the game boards the places all other game pieces and obstacles anywhere in the gaming area. Next Blue player gets only 1 sniper team (Sniper and Squad Leader) and two gun teams (2 MGs, 2 Ammo Bearers, and 2 Assistant Gunners) and “places” in any unoccupied spaces secretly by tracking their position and movements on a separate gridded paper. Special Rules: all blue player game pieces are only revealed if they are involved in an attack, or used as supportive fire during an attack, or if the red player’s movement lands on or would pass over those game pieces. At this time, the blue player will place those effected pieces on the game board. After being exposed, the exposed game pieces can return to being hidden on blue player’s next turn. The VIP game piece can only move up to two spaces each turn unless used in a formation movement and has a defensive dice value of 1. Hi Ian Bremmer Here are some numbers that I guess you and The Independent did not feel relevant to understanding the events of the last year. 1. 0️⃣ - the number of Palestinians in Gaza that Hamas has allowed to take shelter in a tunnel network longer than the London Underground. 2. 0️⃣ - number of Hamas terrorists confirmed killed by the Hamas-run Palestinian Ministry of Health. Hamas can no longer field a functioning army, but yep, all those casualties you accept at face value are also civilian. 3. 0️⃣ - the number of Red Cross visits to Israeli hostages held in Gaza, about 100 of whom are still held in Gaza a full year later. 4. 0️⃣ - UN resolutions condemning Hamas (as confirmed by a UN press release https://lnkd.in/eWuktKQ9) 5. 0️⃣ - the number of days since October 7 when missiles have not been launched at Israel. See this amazing video of missile alerts. https://lnkd.in/eFqhK-qM 6. 6️⃣ - the number of countries/territories that have launched missiles at Israel (Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Iran). 7. 18 -  the number of Israeli minors orphaned on October 7 - some 250 minors lost one parent and three lost one, with the other taken hostage in Gaza. 8. 350 miles - lowest estimate of the length of the Hamas terror tunnel network under Gaza and Gaza is only 25 miles long. The London Underground is 250 miles long. Built, by the way, through the diversion of funds and concrete provided by international aid organizations. 9. 26,000 - the number of missiles fired at Israel 10. 300,000 - the number of Israelis from southern and northern Israel forced to flee their homes due to the missile fire, of which over 100,000 have still not returned

Fun interview! Palmer Luckey def likes the same cool geeky things the rest of us out of the box thinkers like! It's probably why we have some of the same investors. ;) DreamHammer is also a native Southern California company. Maybe this innovation comes from a gamer, SoCal mindset. I worked for the Defense Department as a GS civilian that managed ACAT 1 programs, so I knew from the inside the issues with the DoD's acquisition process and its inability to acquire innovative, commercial tech and get it to the battlefield. Palmer had some interesting points I agree with on how the defense department and venture backed tech have not worked well together like they did in the past and shunned commercial tech innovation until more recent wars have proven our advocacy for commercially developed tech correct. I remember getting a call from a Navy Admiral in 2014 apologizing to me that there were no programmatic requirements in the US Navy for this type of drone innovation, even though they needed it badly and wanted to field it. In other words, there was no way to buy it! The Pentagon themselves pushed hard to help advocate funded requirements for innovative technology by spending millions demonstrating of our technology with major drone systems across all the armed services as well as with Defense Industry leaders such as Lockheed Martin, General Atomics, Boeing and Northrop Grumman and US Congress. The brilliant leader Lt. Gen David A. Deptula (ret.), ISR Chief of USAF at the time, saw the need immediately but the Air Force at the time was too busy focusing on remotely piloted aircraft, rather than swarms of autonomous drones controlled by single operators that could overwhelm enemy defenses or collect ISR extremely cost effectively. Well this type of Drone tech is winning battles in wars today but it didn't come from America. DreamHammer spent millions of dollars of its profit to create its commercial drone software tech that enabled the Pentagon and the defense industry to break silo's so any/all their autonomous systems can work together. WIRED covered it in 2012 (https://lnkd.in/e2cjSfcN), Bloomberg News covered it in 2013 (https://lnkd.in/eTV-mQ4E) and CNBC covered it in 2014 (https://lnkd.in/e85DqE-m), (https://lnkd.in/enwr6pWM). Today they call this Joint All Domain Command and Control. Even though it has taken more than 10 years, I am happy the DoD is finally moving in the right direction in its thinking about autonomous systems with commercial innovation and DreamHammer is excited to be working with the U.S. Defense Department to help give them the competitive edge they need for the future. Congrats to Anduril Industries and Peter Thiel for their work in helping to move the needle forward and joining the fight!

💡 Oddball is on a roll with a $1,608,616 award from the United States Department of Defense, specifically the United States Department of the Air Force. This funding is part of the Small Business Innovation Research Program Phase III. Oddball will focus on enhancing their BizInt application, incorporating new features based on stakeholder feedback and user testing. 🛠️ This SBIR Phase III project will last for 11 months, starting on September 13, 2024, and ending on September 12, 2025.
