Walking the Ground to Build Tech Solutions that Truly Serve 👣 In a world buzzing with AI and digital innovation, it's easy to forget the power of simply walking the ground. That's why we have had our core team spent time to experience the unique challenges and opportunities in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Thailand by immersing themselves in the local communities to truly understand the needs and challenges faced by residents. We thank the communities and our partners for hosting us so graciously, and to have the opportunities to have an in-depth walkthrough of eco-systems across regions. ✨ What became clear is this: the best technology solutions aren't built in a vacuum. They're born from a deep understanding of the diverse ecosystems they're meant to serve. Investing in this kind of on-the-ground research across different regions is crucial for creating technology that truly makes a difference on a global scale. 👨👩👧👦 By talking to people, we discover the small, but important, gaps that technology can fill. This isn't about AI for AI's sake – it's about identifying specific needs and addressing them in a meaningful way. We will continue to walk the ground, listen, and build solutions that truly make a difference. novomind APAC #CustomerFocusedTechnology #IntegrationintoEcosystems #AIforEnterprise #TechforGood Photo features Philipp Domanski and Leikanthan Ramalingam in Admiralty Wet Market, Singapore

It's been four months since I've come up to New York to market Singapore's business ecosystem to the US - here are three things I've learned so far: 1) Customers come first - Seeing the surge in #GenAI companies in the US was phenomenal, but everyone is now looking for customers and ways to earn revenue on their products. As a city with one of the highest densities of decision-makers, Singapore is investing in AI technology applications as part of its National AI Strategy 2.0 (https://lnkd.in/dcyqZ6Rp), providing global AI companies a chance to build for purpose. 2) Flight to credibility - As a marketer who attends many industry-leading conferences, especially in areas such as #decarbonization, sometimes it can get easy to be sceptical about the claims and promises made. I am sympathetic to businesses that must distinguish the signal from the noise, especially as they look for sincere opportunities for their technologies to scale and make an impact. I am glad that Singapore takes its credibility very seriously - it promises only what it can deliver and invests resources into effecting its plans (https://lnkd.in/dAQXeQMD). This has resonated well with many US companies. 3) Everything boils down to talent - One thing that's consistently come up is that businesses will go wherever the #talent is. In an economy where ideas shape innovation, and where innovation decides survival, companies resonate with the policy evolutions made in the last few years to enable the building of powerful teams (https://lnkd.in/dfcYFYk8). For US companies, distance can just be a number when you have the right people on board. What do you think - what other trends should I look out for and what else may I have missed?

Singapore recently released an updated national AI strategy. It offers valuable lessons for tech hubs like Bristol with aspirations to lead in AI. A key shift in Singapore's approach is treating AI as an enabling force across sectors rather than an emerging technology for trials. Bristol too must move AI from pilots to large-scale deployment, if we are to see economic impacts. Another lesson is grounding AI advancements in local context. Singapore launched AI models tailored for South East Asia. Bristol should support AI that addresses regional issues. Singapore takes an agile approach to AI governance - updating voluntary guidelines regularly. Bristol should emulate this pragmatic regulation that protects consumers while giving innovation space. Finally, Singapore's strategy focuses on value creation from AI across research, startups and skills development. We must build a comprehensive ecosystem in Bristol that turns AI potential into inclusive growth. While Singapore offers an impressive model, the core lesson is simple. Targeted strategy and concerted efforts to deploy AI can propel progress. The tools are here. Bristol must find the will to execute on an AI-powered future. #AIStrategy #Singapore #Bristol #AIEcosystem #AIDeployment

Forging the Future: Singapore Drives AI, Smart City Solutions in Asia Singapore moved two spots up, finishing fifth overall and number one in Asia in the 2023 edition of the Global Innovation Index (GII), which the World Intellectual Property Organisation published in September. The GII ranks the world’s most innovative economies based on 80 different indicators. Singapore came first overall in 11 of these, including access to ICT technology, government effectiveness, and venture capital. Some 50 years ago, the city-state was a crowded trading port and many of its 1.5mn citizens lived in dire conditions. With no natural resources to speak of and with land and water scarcity stacked against it, this rapid transformation of the island nation was made possible by progressive thinking and a steadfast commitment to investing in and facilitating innovation. As impressive as its run may be, Singapore shows no signs of slowing down on its way to becoming a forge for innovation and a living lab where some of the key technologies and solutions that will shape the future of the world will be developed and tested out in real life.
