Your mid-career renaissance starts here | Helping stifled professionals redefine success on their terms | ICF certified Coach | Speaker | Writer | Former Creative Director
What’s going to make the biggest impact in the second half of your career is your wisdom, not your skills. It’s stepping in to your natural strengths; your drive to make a difference. You’ve mastered your skills and created success, but what got you here will not take you there - to that place which is a bit hard to see right now, but you know in your heart: there’s got to be something more than this. That new destination will come into view as you lean into what makes you, you. All of your experiences and knowledge are so crucial as you shift success from social norms to service & soul. There’s science behind all of this - I’m happy to share the sources - but I’d imagine you don’t need the scientists to tell you how different your work feels to you now. The changes to your enthusiasm, energy levels and ideas are way more real than those academic studies. Just know those same scientists also have given us a path forward to help that new destination come into view. It starts with embracing your wisdom. You’re likely already doing it as you mentor younger colleagues and volunteer in the community. What would it take to do it intentionally? To make your second half even more meaningful than the first? You ready? I’ve got resources to get you going.

Coach and Co-Conspirator for Glitterbombs - Professional Misfits - so they can catapult from lonely to legendary.
I had the ☕ BEST ☕ time on Thursday hosting ACMP DC's Coffee Chat. Luda Peters, Dr. Rhonda Farrell, Sade Adeyanju, and I had a cozy conversation about growing and developing yourself as a change thought leader. Although I'm still processing much of our conversation, my biggest takeaways to share: - 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧, 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗪𝗛𝗢 "What now" is only as helpful as the options you're ready to explore. And if you've thought yourself into a corner with "there's nothing left to learn," flip the script. Instead of asking "WHAT haven't I done yet", ask "WHO haven't I served yet?" Look for new professional opportunities to apply your skillsets to, or volunteer your time to an organization that can use your skillset. New channels will force you to think and apply your knowledge differently. - 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 Fellow changemaker Carol Turpen, SPHR proudly proclaims that curiosity is her love language, and we should all take a page from her. What interests you is enough to spark inspiration and growth. Chase that curiosity, regardless of where it takes you. From our little klatch, we're curious about the power of storytelling, investing in mentorship (giving and receiving), exploring behavioral science, and building resilience. - 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 When was the last time you turned to your change bestie and asked them "what did you spend your time and development money on last year, and was it worth it?" We spend our days making sure the transformations we're representing are worthwhile to the groups who are impacted; why not do this for ourselves? We can use each other build the Awareness and Knowledge for our own, internal change and transformation. The Desire is certainly there. And there's so much more. But whether or not you're a change person, let's start with us and replay below: What did you spend your time and development money on last year, and was it worth it?

TEDx Alum | Real human teaching you how to build sustainable growth through a vibrant connection with your audience.
Are you the person who wants someone to tell you something is stuck in your teeth? 🤔 Being curious and a passionate student of human behavior, I love learning about personality and why we do the things we do. It’s become a life-long pursuit of mine to seek understanding in the way things work. And it’s become comical how you and I can slide into habits of problem avoidance. Like spinach in our teeth. Some of you want others to be kind and point it out. Others would rather avoid the whole entire embarrassment. The challenge is we bring that same self into our organizations. It’s impossible not to. So for those who want the light to be shined on their problems they: - experience growth - develop healthier cultures - and build communities that last Those who avoid problem awareness: - stall their growth - plateau their future - alienate themselves from opportunity Knowing this now, what will you choose? Raise your hand 🙋♂️ (or give a 👍🏻) if you’re choosing to become aware in order to grow. These are the leaders and organizations your Main Street Mentor exists to help. Awareness is just the start. And then requires action. We’ve been giving away free marketing and communication audits for those organizations and small businesses looking to grow. The calls I’m fortunate to have are life giving because awareness is life giving. Feel free to hit me with a DM if you want to learn more! Ok, that’s it. Be good to each other out there. The best is yet to come!

Your 30s: A time for discovery and finding your tribe. People always ask me how they can find the right community they can truly belong to. In your 30s, your circle of friends starts shaping your worldview. This is a time of exploration and discovery. Surround yourself with diverse perspectives, people who challenge and inspire you. The values you share with your friends can guide your decisions and growth. In my 30s, I found that my friends were instrumental in shaping my career path and personal values. By your 40s, your circle of friends becomes more intentional. You start to value deeper connections over quantity. Shared experiences and values take precedence. Your friends are often those who support your personal and professional growth, and who understand the complexities of balancing various aspects of life. It's a time to foster relationships that provide mutual support and encouragement. I’ve seen how these connections can lead to collaborative projects and personal growth. The person speaking here is Joseph de Leon, or JDL as we call him, speaking eloquently at our anniversary party for Mastermind last year. In the professional arena, it's easy to get caught up in the pursuit of titles and positions. However, as Robin Sharma wisely points out, "Success is not a function of the size of your title but the richness of your contribution." This quote is a powerful reminder that true success is not defined by the hierarchy of titles or the accolades on your CV. Instead, it’s about the value you bring to your work, the innovation you drive, and the positive impact you have on those around you. Reflect on your career and consider the moments when you felt most successful. Were they defined by a new title or promotion? Or were they defined by a breakthrough idea you brought to life, the guidance you offered a colleague, or the problem you solved that no one else could? Your contributions—whether in the form of ideas, support, or leadership—are what truly count. They build your legacy, shape your career, and inspire those who follow in your footsteps. Titles may come and go, but the impact you make with your contributions is lasting. So, the next time you're evaluating your success, look beyond the title. Focus on what you've contributed to your team, your company, and your community. Measure your success by the value you've added and the lives you've touched. In doing so, you'll find that true success is about far more than just a title—it's about making a meaningful and lasting difference.
