The new iPad Pro + M4 chip | Apple Apple has unveiled its latest M4 chip, which is built on second-generation three-nanometer technology, making it even more power efficient than its predecessor, M3. The chip includes a new display engine, which is said to enable the precision, colour and brightness of the Ultra Retina XDR display. The M4 also offers a new CPU, with up to four performance cores and six efficiency cores, and next-generation ML accelerators, which delivers up to 50% faster CPU performance than the previous iPad Pro. The next-generation 10-core GPU architecture includes powerful features such as dynamic caching and brings hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing to iPad for the first time. The M4 is capable of an astounding 38 trillion operations per second, which is 60 times faster than the A11 Bionic. The upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset is rumored to outperform Apple’s A18 Pro and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in GPU benchmarks, scoring 86% higher than the A18 Pro on the Vulcan benchmark test. This powerful GPU, tested in a controlled environment, also exceeded the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s performance by 41%.
