Heard at Lemu: an idea on holistic conservation 🌱🌎 For Léna Plaud, Chief Business Officer at Lemu, one of the most fascinating things in nature conservation is seeing how everything is interconnected. A tree is also the ecosystem that surrounds it. A change in an ecosystem can have deep effects on a community. And human careless intervention in nature almost always has an impact on our livelihoods. Considering nature conservation from a holistic perspective means understanding that nature and its dynamics are diverse, complex, balanced, and deeply interconnected. But it also means acknowledging that enabling nature conservation helps tackle urgent nature-related challenges, like climate change, biodiversity loss, access to drinkable water, or agricultural sustainability. For nature conservation to be prosperous, humans need to recognize their place in nature as part of an interconnected system founded on collaboration. Through this collaborative principle, we can improve our relationship with the natural world and enhance our efforts to protect it, for example, by bringing conservation projects and companies with sustainability programs closer and aligned around shared challenges, such as demonstrating their impact. Whenever you think about your place in nature, remember that we are part of a system we protect to save ourselves. That interconnectedness is essential in the grand scheme of nature. And that collaboration is at the core of how nature and the protection of nature works. 🧩 🤝🏻 Do you want to know more about how companies and conservation projects can turn the tide for our planet together? Stay tuned! #HeardAtLemu #NatureConservation #ClimateChange #BiodiversityLoss

The UK government's recent mandate for a 10% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) applicable also to small sites from April 2024 is a crucial step towards sustainable development. 🍃 We recognise that integrating biodiversity into our designs adds immense value, enhancing local ecosystems and creating thriving habitats. We did this on Meretone House, designing a lush landscaped front and backyard as well as a biodiverse roof on the bike shed. This isn't just about meeting regulations—it's about setting a standard for future-forward, nature-positive built environment. We embrace this and treasure biodiversity in our design very much. #Biodiversity #SustainableDesign #BNG2024
