🔏🌐Enhancing Energy Security: Safeguarding our national security and power infrastructure is crucial in today’s interconnected world. Electric-power and gas companies face constant threats from physical and cyber-attacks. Whether it’s adversaries, cybercriminals, or vandals, preparation is key. Activu empowers utility companies and federal agencies with the most secure, cutting-edge Common Operating Picture (COP)—integrating a diverse suite of monitoring and operational tools and platforms—enabling an instant awareness of critical information during pivotal moments. Our platform, vis/ability, separates the signal from the noise, providing relevant context to operations teams. Whether displayed on video walls, in conference rooms, or accessed remotely, vis/ability ensures that crucial information reaches those who need it most. #EnergySecurity #InfrastucterProtection #Cybersecurity #Utilities #Innovation #Collaboration #DOE #DHS #NERC #NIST https://lnkd.in/es2kMnYF

As we work together to secure our critical energy infrastructure, it’s important that we all take pages from the same playbook. Earlier this year, NARUC (in partnership with CESER) released Cybersecurity Baselines for Electric Distribution Systems and Distributed Energy Resources, which aim to create a common starting point for cyber risk reduction activities for state Public Utility Commissions, electric distribution utilities, and DER operators and aggregators. It is a singular but important step toward securing the systems Americans rely on. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/encUfDCY #TeamworkTuesday

Like several aspects, cybersecurity for electrical systems is as necessary as imperatives now. Erecting fortresses around critical infrastructure, layering defenses like onion skins and thinking intrusion detection systems as electrified watchtowers. It's a constant act while takes are skyrocketing. Cybersecurity for electric grids is a kind of digital shield. Let's keep the lights on, not out. #ciso #cto #informationsecurity #security #tech #strategy #compliances #digitaltransformation #datasecurity #zerotrust https://lnkd.in/gG74Ay52

We launched Available Power in February 2020. Our initial scope was quite wide: distributed energy projects. As we delved deeper, we honed in on battery storage - the fastest growing segment in the energy sector today. Little did we know what would come next. By the summer of 2021, following a wave of cyberattacks in the energy industry, we grew concerned about the cybersecurity of our own assets. We decided to take matters into our hands, leveraging decades of expertise in digitalizing critical infrastructure - under the leadership of our CEO, Daniel Constantine Gregory. After 2+1/2 years in stealth mode, we are thrilled to unveil Available Networks, a sister company of Available Power, dedicated to providing Zero Trust Network Services for safeguarding access to critical infrastructure (more on our website: https://lnkd.in/dUtrhff7). When we started to engage customers a year ago, they were quick to point out that while we may have important assets to secure, theirs were definitely of higher priority. What about yours? #cybersecurity #zerotrust #criticalinfrastructure #batterystorage #availablepower #availablenetworks

How do we protect the nation’s growing portfolio of distributed energy resources (DERs)? 🛡️ The United States faces unprecedented complexity in its #energy infrastructure, making #cybersecurity a top priority. A whopping 90 gigawatts of DERs, including half of the nation’s rooftop solar installations, need proactive measures against #cyber threats. 👩💻 NREL’s DER-CF tool can help. This innovative resource funded by the DOE Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) is a free, open-access platform that helps asset owners identify their cybersecurity maturity within their #DER systems through self-assessments. DER-CF is revolutionizing how we fortify our cybersecurity posture for all types of #renewable deployments. As the world moves towards prioritizing sustainable energy, distributed energy resources (DERs) like solar photovoltaic (PV) systems take center stage. The Distributed Energy Resource Cybersecurity Framework (DER-CF), is a groundbreaking tool highlighted at the 2023 IEEE Power and Energy Society's conference by National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) researchers. With global energy transformation underway, safeguarding behind-the-meter DERs is critical. The innovative DER-CF, tool is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and offers a free, open-access platform to fortify cybersecurity in renewable energy deployments. The paper's insights (see link), showcase customized cybersecurity controls and best practices for behind-the-meter solar PV systems. In a nutshell, DER-CF is revolutionizing cybersecurity maturity and addressing evolving challenges in renewable energy security.

A single line of malicious code could plunge millions into darkness. Our energy grid—the silent giant powering our lives—stands as both lifeline and bullseye. Energy providers face a perfect storm: >> legacy systems clash with modern threats, >> OT networks lie exposed, third-party software hides risks, and >> 24/7 operations leave little room for crucial updates. Protecting our energy grid isn't just about keeping the lights on—it's about safeguarding the very pulse of our society. #PowerGrid #CyberSecurity #CriticalInfrastructure

The utilities industry is facing an increasing number of physical and cyber threats, necessitating robust defense strategies and tactics. Yet, solar facilities have lagged behind other utilities in implementing best practices in security. Why? A lack of infrastructure, remote locations, and a lack of regulatory mandates. As a result, security measures for solar installations have tended to be responsive, not proactive. But, the good news is that Convergint is poised to help change that. Let's work together to ensure the security of our solar facilities. #utilities #solar #security #Convergint https://lnkd.in/g-k7TT4j
