🏗 IRA PROJECT OF THE DAY
Two years ago, President Biden signed into law the most important climate policy in history. So just what has the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) done so far ... and what’s at risk if we go backward and roll back or reduce the policy? Here's your daily sample of the 330+ major clean energy projects announced since the passage of the IRA. (Want more? See E2.org/announcements or pick up a copy of Clean Economy NOW).
FRIDLEY, MINN. – We’re all learning a little bit more about the state of Minnesota since Gov. Tim Walz’s juggernaut rise to become the Democratic nominee for vice president. So let’s go to his home state for today’s IRA Project of the Day. In May, a division of Cummins Inc. opened the first factory in the U.S. that will make electrolyzers, the fundamental mechanical devices used to make clean, green hydrogen. The new, 89,000 square-foot electrolyzer plant north of Minneapolis will create about 100 jobs, illustrating how an old school company is bringing cutting edge innovation and new opportunities to America’s heartland, thanks to the IRA.

1moThis is an exciting development for the energy sector! The $7.3 billion in grants and loans will empower electric cooperatives to lead the way in clean energy innovation, helping to reshape rural energy infrastructure. These investments can play a pivotal role in expanding access to renewable energy, while also contributing to local job creation and long-term sustainability. It’s great to see the U.S. Department of Agriculture fostering this transition. How do you think these projects will influence the future of energy resilience in rural communities?
