A new battery energy storage system is up and running at Ellsworth Air Force Base thanks to a partnership between West River Electric Association, Inc., Saft, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories and NRECA. The project is a backup power source to provide resilience for Ellsworth Air Force Base’s and Rapid City Regional Airport’s grids.
