“Work takes on new meaning when you feel you are pointed in the right direction. Otherwise, it’s just a job, and life is too short for that.” – Tim Cook
This isn't a post to tell you that the robots are winning and taking over the Applicant Tracking Systems. However, you may definitely have some barriers now though with some systems in some companies. I have heard of a growing number of companies are starting to put surveys attached to the application that will make you answer yes or no to specific questions regarding your qualifications. If you are not able to meet 100% of the minimum qualifications on the job description, BY LAW, some US employers CANNOT consider you for the role and your application will become automatically rejected. This isn't a post about beating an AI overlord and getting around the ATS, it is a post that is begging you to please read the job descriptions and make sure that you can check every box that is being asked for in the minimum qualifications section if you are applying through a job portal.

Happy Sunday, job seekers. I'm sharing a list with you of US employers that - BY LAW - cannot consider anyone that does NOT meet the stated minimum qualifications of any job they are applying for in the US (does not impact international offices of those same employers). -So...if the job calls for 5+ years of experience with X, and you have 4.5 years - you cannot be considered. -If it calls for Excel and you only have Googlesheets - you cannot be considered. -The role requires a bachelor's degree and you have an Associate's - you are not qualified and cannot be considered. Link in the comments for more info - an extensive article I wrote giving context.
