Experience to Complete Any Size Project

After spending five years developing properties in our portfolio, I am taking a pause to update what I've been working on. Mitchell Enterprises wrapped up our civil and commercial construction to pursue residential development in 2020. The Sherman/Denison area is a booming housing market with manufactures making billion dollar investments locally. Mitchell made the decision to purchase four parcels of land and completed residential development on the two hottest properties. Property appreciation for the area outweighed continued ownership, so we made a decision to close out operations and sale off the remaining parcels. This has been quite a task considering Mitchell's 30 year occupancy at our south Sherman facility and a large accumulation of equipment and material had to be dealt with. I have been also been busy with Civworks, a side striping company started in 2019. Civworks went from one side project a month to multiple projects and multiple crews over the past two years. As striping is not my career focus and the completion of development work took priority, Civworks sold to a larger competitor last year. Most recently, my wife and I started a freight logistics company which we are still in the process of growing. We recently reached a two year milestone, a significant accomplishment at a time when the express freight industry is in depression and many companies, both large and small, left the industry in 2024. My time has been occupied but I feel underutilized; I miss large scale projects. I have spent 25 years in an industry learning how to construct and always searched or tried to develop a better way to do things. I still am passionate about watching building going vertical. I enjoy driving past completed projects knowing I was a part of the construction team. My mindset is similar to a model builder shopping for more and more complex kits to complete, a certain thought process that enjoys the challenge of complex moving parts. I'm looking for my next challenge in the construction industry.

Building Resilience Through Challenges It's been a really challenging build, I have to admit. After a lot of digging out and removing old floors due to issues that unfolded during the rip-out, the new floors are finally going down. From this point onwards, progress should be a lot quicker. Each build brings its own challenges, but I have to say, this has been one of the more problematic and frustrating ones we have had to deal with. However, these challenges are what shape our experience and expertise. Having a strong power team is essential when taking on projects like ours. The build team has been fantastic, and communication both ways is vital for the smooth running of each refurb. Their dedication and hard work have been pivotal in navigating through these obstacles. These pictures clearly shows how complicated building construction can be You can see roads, rail passages and paths for people to walk near the construction site. Construction companies have to think about these things every day. They make sure that people can still use the rail and roads and walkways while they build. They also have to work around other buildings close by. All of this has to be done carefully to keep everyone safe and keep the city running smoothly while they add new buildings to the skyline.
