Visited Vibrant Gujarat 2024 and it was fascinating to witness the burgeoning startup scene, particularly those in the Electric Vehicle (EV) sector. What stood out was the shift towards a greater emphasis on manufacturing over software development. Currently, it appears more like assembly in India, but undoubtedly, this trajectory is set to evolve. 🌐🚗 Exciting times for the manufacturing landscape! Gravity Energy Storage Developed By Baud Resources. IIT-Kanpur incubated clean-tech startup Baud Resources has developed a gravity energy storage system. The system uses locally available materials such as sand and industrial waste as its payload. The firm plans to build a 100 MWh pilot plant which will offer a levelised storage cost of around Rs 2.5 (USD 0.03)/kWh. This energy storage mechanism operates on gravitational potential energy, without the need for water or dams. As per the startup, the mechanism can be implemented in any location, plains, desert, or sub-zero climate.

A must read post, very useful, inspiring and motivational.
Professor at IIT Bombay, Founder of Energy Swaraj Foundation, Brand Ambassador of Solar Energy, Govt of MP, Google search "Solar Man of India"
2 decades!!! My 20 years career with IIT Bombay have been very happening. Thanks to my institute Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and my Department, Energy Sceince and Engineering for all the support. It is one of the best institutes in the country in terms of work culture. When I joined 20 years back, I realised that there are no books in India, by Indian authors in the field of #solar. Today, three of my #books are used as textbooks. Almost every Indian and some abroad who studies solar PV uses my books. When I joined IITB there was no big research centre on solar energy in India. Today, we have established one of the largest research centres called the National Centre for Photovoltaics #Research and Education (NCPRE). I wrote over 100 reserach papers. Also developed, several courses and recorded in video form. Conducted many short term coruses on solar for industry, reserachers and enterpreners. We also developed low cost solar lab where students can easily experiment related to solar. When I joined, everybody wanted to pilot in solar, there was no large skill development project. We started India’s largest project titled Solar Urja through Localisation (#SoULS), trained 10,000 rural women and reached out to 7.5 million households. Based on this work, we won IEEE global grand prize of US$100,000 (about Rs. 80 Lakh). When I joined. I wanted to start a school near my village. Today there is a 14 acre #school campus in MP, that is 100% solar powered without any grid connection. Today, I am on an 11 years #EnergySwaraj Yatra to bring mass awareness about #climatechange and corrective action, impacting millions of people. Someone shared that when they asked #ChatGpt, who is “Solar Man of India”, responded with my name and highlights of my work. Today I feel 20 years have been spent well. Hope next 20 years will be 1000 times more effective :-) Hope we would create a big movement on #ActionForClimateCorrection through Energy Independence or #EnergySwaraj. Thanks everyone for your wishes and positively supporting the work. Energy Swaraj Foundation #Education #SolarEnergy
