Discover invaluable insights from Cybersecurity entrepreneur/investor, Zohar Alon, on the remarkable growth of Israeli startups during the first half of 2024. “As Israel fights on all fronts, its startups are experiencing a positive period, where the cyber-security sector, which I focus on as an investor and an active board member, is topping the charts, in both exits and funding rounds. We saw our first $1B up round (Wiz), followed by a $1.5B acquisition (Venafi by CyberArk), Wiz made its first 9-digit acquisition (Gem for $300M) and, the under three years old toddler, Avalor Security, a Zscaler Company, was acquired by Zscaler for $315M.” Our H1 2024 Report delivers the data and insights you need to stay up to date with the Israeli tech industry. Squinting at the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) 3.0 strategy document, I'm amazed at how closely their story tracking with Hacking for Defense® (H4D). 1.0. Both started in 2015 with the goal of restoring linkages that had eroded over the previous two decades. The early adopters, all with "dual fluency" in defense and venture/tech, believed deeply in the need for partnership and collaborative investment. 2.0. Both evolved their models to prove out the value of commercial capabilities. For DIU, this was mainly about technology. For H4D, this was mainly about talent. Enduring relationships were built. The community grew and grew, fueled by early wins and a maturing 2.0 strategy. 3.0. Both are embracing scale and impact. H4D increasingly focuses on problems sourced from operating forces. It is taught across AUKUS, and ties directly to savvy private investors who can rapidly scale up a company once it gets early traction. These are all lines of effort called out by DIU Director Doug Beck. I'm excited to see how this partnership grows with NSIN - National Security Innovation Network integrated into DIU. Many thanks to the hard work of hard-working patriots such as Jesse Gipe, David S., Caitlin Bowers, Max Weintraub, Abigail Desjardins, and John Hrivnak. #defenseinnovation #diu #h4d #nontraditional #tech #startups #military

Browning’s famous quote - “ Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, Or what's a heaven for?” Urges us to to strive and achieve - attemptting even those things that may turn out to be impossible. These days I gaze in awe at the Israeli tech sector that despite of everything that has happened since October 7th - we stand and deliver! Having recently returned from RSA and witnessing first hand the dominance of the Israeli Cyber eco-system presence and the disproportionate contribution - it is STILL surprising to see the seemingly impossible happen in front of your eyes — Twelve Israeli startups are featured in the Rising in Cyber list, which highlights the most promising cyber companies in the U.S. The project was organized by the global venture capital fund Notable Capital, in cooperation with the New York Stock Exchange, Fenwick, and HSBC Innovation Banking. The list includes: Gomboc, Oligo, and Wing among the 10 early-stage companies; Astrix, Descope, Gutsy and Grip at the mid-stage; and Cyera, Drata, Island, Orca, and Wiz at the growth stage. 12 out of 30! Israel Cyber Rocks! #Israelinnovation #deutschetelekom #Israelalwaysdelivers

Looking at the first half of 2024, it’s clear that Israel’s startup ecosystem continues to demonstrate resilience and growth, even amidst significant challenges. Startup Nation Central’s recent report, drawing from our comprehensive business engagement platform, Finder, shows that growth potential overshadowed risk, keeping the Israeli investment landscape vibrant. Read the full report here: https://okt.to/ftJPnk This pattern is particularly evident in the cybersecurity sector, which has played a pivotal role in the Israeli tech ecosystem and represents 52% of private funding in H1 2024. Global cyber trends, and recent notable investments and M&A activity with companies like Wiz, Palo Alto, and CrowdStrike further indicate the sector's attractiveness to investors. This trend is likewise reflected in the new Finder Equal-Weight (EW) Index, which tracks Israeli tech companies traded on NASDAQ. However, we must look beyond cybersecurity. It is crucial for the Israeli tech ecosystem to diversify its strengths. While cybersecurity remains a cornerstone, we must continue to nurture and invest in early-stage and early-growth companies across various sectors. By doing so, we can ensure that our innovation ecosystem not only thrives in the present but is also well-positioned to seize future opportunities. I am proud to see the resilience and growth of our Israeli tech investment landscape, especially following a challenging first half in 2024. This is a testament to the strength and determination of our ecosystem. As our bold, creative innovators continue to push boundaries and explore new frontiers, I invite you to join us in shaping the future of Israeli tech. #ImpatientInnovation #Startups #IsraeliTech #InvestmentOpportunities #Cybersecurity #StartupNationCentral
