Australia-Korea Defence Industry Collaboration Shines at KADEX 2024. The Australian Defence Magazine's ADM Australia-Korea Defence Congress and KADEX 2024 held last October highlighted the growing ties between Australia and South Korea in the defence sector. Australian and Korean officials emphasised shared strategic goals, streamlined export controls, and opportunities for bilateral industry partnerships. Key discussions included enhancing interoperability, expanding co-development projects like the Redback IFV, and leveraging South Korea's advanced defence manufacturing. Notable industry participation featured companies such as Bale Defence and Hanwha Defence Australia. Site tours at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries showcased cutting-edge naval capabilities. Another step towards #cooperation at Eurosatory The framework agreement signed between France, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia and Hungary regarding Mistral 3 is a good example of the dynamic towards more cooperation in Europe for Defence. Managed by the DGA - Direction générale de l'armement with MBDA support, the arrangement gives partner nations access to an improved acquisition process that meets armed forces’ requirements. This joint procurement mechanism is a concrete example of the acceleration of the European Union defence dynamic. It constitutes a major step forward in strengthening the defence capabilities of the European Union and its member states, while fostering sovereignty. This agreement, which interests other EU member states, will drive efficiencies and enhance the resilience of the European defence industrial base. Congratulations to the DGA teams that worked for this agreement to come to life in #Europe. In the context of #sovereignty being discussed and threatened, we strongly believe that, wherever possible, cooperation is the best answer.

Israel Ministry of Defense has agreed to a deal worth 560 Million Euros to sell the Barak MX Integrated Air Defense System produced by IAI to Slovakia. This is an important deal and follows deals to sell Arrow to Germany, David's Sling to Finland and also possibly develop an air defense for Greece. Israel's IAI Elta subsidiary has also sold MMR radars to Czech and Slovakia, these are the similar radars used with the Iron Dome system. What this means overall is there Europe's skies are increasingly defended with Israeli technology, proven air defense systems, some of them developed with the US (Arrow and David's Sling). Israel's Ministry of Defense said today: "Marking a significant milestone in defense cooperation, Israel and Slovakia have finalized their largest-ever defense export agreement, valued at approximately 560 million euros. This landmark deal, orchestrated by the International Defense Cooperation Directorate of the IMOD (SIBAT), will further strengthen the bond between the two nations and enhance Slovakia's defense capabilities." DOT – The State Operator For Non-Lethal Acquisition collaborates with NATO's defence procurement agencies. As for now, we established effective cooperation with DALO (the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation), FMV (the Defence Materiel Administration procures, develops and delivers equipment and services to the Swedish defence), and Expertise France (the French international technical cooperation agency). I believe that for Ukraine, continuous communication with international partners is crucial. We need to learn from them, and importantly, they have something to learn from us. With our colleagues from Denmark and Sweden, we exchange experiences in process and project management for procurement. With France, our cooperation focuses on export control. An interesting insight - both Swedish and Danish focus on the real need of the armed forces rather then buying the nomenclature identified. What we aspire to achieve is build long-term relations with the market. We are aiming to sign long-term contracts, just like our international colleagues. Together with partners we will be searching for new approaches to build acquision efficient and flexible to be able to operate in emergency conditions.

Malaysia’s AIROD and Turkey’s ASFAT have signed a significant Collaboration Framework Agreement (CFA) in Ankara. The agreement signifies a pivotal new era of cooperation between the two defense aerospace leaders. The signing ceremony saw Dato’ Edron Hayata Ahmad, Group President of AIROD, and Mr. Betülhan Kahraman, Vice President of ASFAT, formalizing the partnership. The momentous occasion was attended by Malaysia’s Minister of Defence, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, and Turkey’s Minister of National Defence, His Excellency Yaşar Güler. This strategic alliance underscores a robust commitment to innovation and advancement in aerospace defense capabilities. The collaboration will particularly focus on the A400M, S-70A, CN-235, and C-130 aircraft platforms, aiming to bolster both nations’ regional and global aerospace defense standing. The partnership between ASFAT and AIROD is poised to drive significant progress within the aerospace industry, fostering mutual growth and success. Last week the European Defence Agency held its 9th session of the European Defence Standardisation Ccommittee (#EDSC). The EDSC oversees #EDA standardisation activities, as well as its platform the European Defence Standards Reference System (#EDSTAR), to strengthen defence capability development, joint procurement and interoperability between EU Member States. This session saw the participation of relevant partners including Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD), CEN and CENELEC, Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), EUROCAE, Frontex, NATO, and the United States Department of Defense.    EDA works for, and with Member States, on defence standardisation to bring defence capabilities into alignment so they can work together, in complementarity with NATO. The Ministry of Defense is selling the #BARAKMX Integrated Air Defense System, produced by Israel Aerospace Industries, to Slovakia for over 2 billion NIS (approximately $550 million). This is the largest defense export deal ever between the two countries.
