INVITATION COMMAND AND CONTROL CONFERENCE 2024 (REGISTRATION WILL OPEN 5 AUG) This year’s conference, organised in cooperation with the Canadian Joint Warfare Centre, is titled ‘ NATO MDO Synchronisation – C2 Implications’: How to achieve converging effects in the continuum of competition? An important but complex subject in a time where conditions and requirements change rapidly. This event will take place from 19-21 of November 2024 at the Majoor Jan Linzel Complex – The Hague, The Netherlands. The objective of the conference is to gain new insights on how the #NATO transformation into a Multi-Domain Operations (#MDO) enabled Alliance can be further supported from a Command and Control (#C2) perspective. An important element is the synchronisation with non-military actions within other Instruments of Power and with external stakeholders. The discussions during the conference will be focused on the C2 implications of synchronisation in support of this NATO transformation. The NATO C2COE Conference is a high-level event, bringing together military and civilian senior and future leaders of multinational commands and organisations. These leaders will be joined by various subject matter experts with a civilian, academic or industry background. Multiple presentations, interactions and group & panel discussions will allow the expertise and different viewpoints of the participants to create and contribute to a better understanding on how an effective NATO MDO synchronisation can be achieved and how C2 implications are to be managed, in order to achieve the desired converging effects in the continuum of competition. There is nothing inherently wrong with such an approach: centralising #C2 at the appropriate level is necessary – indeed essential – for success.' DEFENSE – COHESION – RESPONSIVENESS   The international context shows the importance of acting in cohesion and unity of operations. Committed to deterring any aggressor from threatening the Alliance’s eastern flank, NATO is strengthening its presence in the area, particularly as part of the transition from battalion to brigade level. The 🇫🇷 armed forces regularly engage in cooperation activities with their allies in the area.   Within the framework of NATO and its bilateral relations, France is providing strong support to the Baltic States, especially Estonia, which is in direct contact with the Russian threat. Between the beginning of November and mid-December 2024, NATO has been engaged in a trio of exercises organised in all three environments (air, sea and land).   These sequences illustrate the cohesion and unity of the Allies involved. As part of the Alliance’s defensive posture, these realistic and demanding multi-domain exercises strengthen NATO’s rapid reaction capability and confirm its ability to act together to deal with any crisis.

Swedish Armed Forces to contribute forces to NATO’s Forward Land Forces in Latvia. As a recent NATO ally, Sweden’s ambition is to contribute to NATO’s core tasks as soon as possible: deterrence and collective defence, conflict prevention and crisis management and security cooperation. The Swedish Government has decided that in early 2025, Sweden will contribute a reduced battalion with approximately 600 soldiers to Alliance’s Enhanced Forward Presence, Forward Land Forces (FLF) in Latvia, a brigade under Canadian command. Sweden and Canada have a long-standing, strong and dynamic relationship that spans across multiple areas of common interest. As allies in NATO, we look forward to deepening it even further! On 18 June, 2024 at #Eurosatory, we had a dynamic exchange on “Cooperative planning to concrete projects” with the European Defence Agency and the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) Our joint panel explored current challenges raised by the new geopolitical context and the strategic and tactical approaches the three organisations could leverage to increase synergies and involve the hashtag #European industry to strengthen capacity and maintain resilience. OCCAR-EA Director, Joachim Sucker stated: “I am very confident that the relationship between OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation), NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) and European Defence Agency (EDA) is good, and that the Nations demands are sufficient to keep all three organisations thoroughly occupied for the foreseeable future.
