Lead by example 🤸 We love recognizing communities for turning research into practice. Through our National Demonstration Site program, we help communities take advantage of this research to build meaningful environments, then measure their positive effect through data reporting (like the survey quotes you see ⬇️) and translation to help defend budgets and elevate outdoor recreation spaces as essential services. Like many councils in NSW, Northern Beaches is facing growing financial pressure with a widening gap between income from rates and the cost to maintain and deliver services like roads, footpaths, sportsfields, playgrounds and pools. This week we launched the Funding our Future campaign. We are asking the community to consider 4 options: Option 1: Reduce services Option 2: Maintain services Option 3: Improve services Option 4: Increase services While Option 1 would see rates stay on the same path and result in reduced services, the other options would ensure long-term financial stability for the Northern Beaches. To help our community understand all the options, we built an online Rates Calculator to give everyone the chance to see how the rate options affect them. We’re also holding a number of community information sessions and webinars. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gN-PP597

"Since the 90s, I have worked to address the lack of accessible housing and advocate for the development of more. My work runs from affordable housing projects to bespoke high-end private residences such as barrier-free apartments, garden suites for aging-in-place, multi-generational congregate communities, and single homes. I do design, user and stakeholder engagement, project facilitation and management, post-occupancy evaluations, design manuals, and sit on technical and research committees. Why do I do this? Because housing is a basic human need; having housing that works for inhabitants is imperative. Humans have complex relationships with our homes and we cultivate what we need from them technically, functionally, culturally and psychosocially. We know HOW our housing can be accessible. Right now, I am dedicated to identify and address barriers to implementing this information. So that Canada can actually be more accessible." #EveryoneEverywhere #AccessibleHousing #CodeHarmonization #dignity
