I want to address the importance of collaboration between federal agencies in addressing larger, more complex challenges. Each agency holds a wealth of data and expertise on critical issues, and when combined, this knowledge can offer a much clearer and more comprehensive view of the bigger picture. Having worked in government throughout my career, I truly appreciate the value of this collaboration, despite the challenges that come with it. Coordinating schedules, aligning priorities, and managing resources across partner agencies—especially at the leadership level—is no small task. One issue that particularly resonates with me is sea level rise. Despite its growing importance, this topic is often sidelined, as it can be politically sensitive. However, addressing sea level change demands a multidisciplinary approach, drawing on the collective knowledge and resources of various sectors. I applaud those who are committed to tackling this issue. Not only is this effort data-driven, but it also includes an educational component for those who wish to learn more! 👏

I think some research should be done on the sea level rising along the Monterey Bay areas. Especially between 8th Street in Marina, California and Canyon Del Rey Boulevard, Monterey/Del Rey Oaks. It would be interesting to see the changes between 1945 to 2024. #MontereyBay #SeaLevels #Beach #Land #Sea

At a local level access to nature and green spaces has been developing over many years in piecemeal fashion. From Parish Paths Partnerships and Millenium Greens(yes I’m that old!). We need to shift to a more baked in approach so that this is a “given” and a “must have” in all developments, and in every community- not a “nice to have”. And it needs to be sustained long after the money has run out. There is much more that existing local community groups can do to help deliver so some of the funding needs to engage with them too. Above all we need a bigger slice of funding for basic overhead costs to support that sustainable longer term delivery like a ‘local community wealth fund’ not just one off project costs.
