NTIA celebrates #HispanicHeritageMonth with this year’s theme: “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together.” We sat down with staff from across our offices to learn how they celebrate their heritage and contribute to NTIA’s mission. Today we spoke with Brian G. from the Office of International Affairs about his work and heritage.
Q: What is your role?
A: As a Federal Program Officer at NTIA, I oversee post-award monitoring and compliance for projects funded by the $1.5 billion Public Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Fund, a competitive grant program aimed at driving wireless innovation, fostering competition, and strengthening supply chain resilience.
Q: Tell us about your heritage. How do you celebrate this month?
A: I'm a 2nd generation Mexican American, raised in a vibrant Hispanic neighborhood. I celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by reflecting on my family’s roots and sharing our culture with friends over homemade tacos and champurrado. It’s a simple but meaningful way to connect with my heritage.
Q: Who inspires you?
A: I’m inspired by many, but one standout in tech is Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel. He’s a respected leader who integrates his Christian faith into his work. His book, The Juggling Act, offers insights on balancing career, faith, and family, showing how to lead with empathy and integrity.
Q: What does this year’s theme mean to you?
A: This year’s theme, Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together, emphasizes the strength of collective action and innovation. To me, it highlights how diverse perspectives, grounded in unique experiences, come together to drive real progress.
