Let’s test your inspection skills..?
Recent inspection who can tell me what’s wrong with this new crane installation..?
Things like that are being seen more and more now unfortunately and it’s all following “proper” crane companies.
6 times the rope diameter to show before first clamp
1)Bulldog clamps spaced too close to each other. 2)Bulldog shouldn’t be touching the wedge, this will stop the wedge seating properly. Once seated by pulling/lifting full SWL, install the clamp one clamp length away from the wedge. If the rope isn’t stainless steel then they shouldn’t be using stainless steel bulldogs. General rule of thumb is that the space between the bulldogs should be the length of the bulldog apart from each other.
No additional wire on clamps / clamps to close to wedge and socket. Not terminated correctly.
The orientation, spacing and number of bull-dog clamps shall be in accordance with crane manufacturer's spec
Bulldog clamps should not be touching the wedge
Photos not exposing full picture or type of socket , but from image i look at the wedge as it exits the socket end is offset ? Possibility fitted with the straight edge wrong way round , comment also on bull dogs
Wedge not seated properly and bull dog clamp should not be touching the wedge
