Congratulations to our founding member Westinghouse Electric Company, whose AP300 small modular reactor has been approved to enter the UK's generic design assessment (GDA) process. At the start of the year, we co-hosted Westinghouse's first UK supplier symposium for the AP300 and AP1000 programmes, with more than 130 companies attending. https://lnkd.in/ecnd-vNP

[I] "The world's most advanced, proven Generation III+ reactor technology" ABSOLUTELY TRUE [II]"The innovative AP1000 reactor design features: fewer safety-related valves, less safety-related piping, less control cable, fewer pumps, less seismic building volume." Btw: I have ALSO seen Specific % Reduction of above published by Westinghouse. BEST WAY TO VALIDATE ABOVE-Significant Reductions/Savings! Suggest Westinghouse/Georgia Power/Southern Nuclear Consider SHARE the Comparison of "Major Bill Of Material/BOQs" for: (A) Vogtle 1 & 2 ( Westinghouse Standard PWR- 1100 MWe+/-) Vs. (B) Vogtle 3 & 4 ( Westinghouse Advanced Generation III+AP1000 PWR- 1100 MWe+/-) Btw: The Results could potentially provide some further insight into the relatively High Capital Cost of Vogtle 3 & 4. Best invest in Building and talking about Fusion power, space, maritime propulsion systems and industry as data centres are. Great Headline, Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR People talk about Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fail to discuss fusion. https://lnkd.in/ge_aeX7M The nuclear fission industry is ignorant of what's happening around it. It must pull its collective uranium heads out of the sand and prepare to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an ever-increasing pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place, and soon to be out of Fuel" and merely temporary. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now, see what is happening in the world of the fusion industry. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fuel shortage is increasingly real, https://lnkd.in/gze5rwpr

Tim Scheetz it looks like Westinghouse could use some help with a better tracked design to haul their reactor.. https://lnkd.in/gjy7aqXa Should we fix their concept with an Endeavor Traxster and some better animation on how you'd actually haul that reactor in and out of remote areas? Hell we can even swap out the diesel generator for a 500kw steam turbine and re-use the same cooling package for heat rejection.

In this clip from his talk at the 2024 Barracuda Virtual Reactor Users' Conference, Raj Kanwar Singh of Technip Energies discusses the results of his modelling work in mushroom distributor design optimization in an FCC regenerator. Leveraging insights from simulations, Raj and his team were able to improve catalyst distribution and mixing as well as increase bed temperature and carbon burnout, thereby ameliorating combustion efficiency. Raj is a longtime friend of the company who has spoken at several of our Users' Conferences. He has a wealth of experience in FCC equipment design, and we always look forward to learning from his expertise in fluidization technology development. In the Swedish news article in one of the leading business magazines, Affärs Världen, there is an interview with the CEO of Westinghouse Sweden, Aziz Dag. The interview focuses on the possibility of building two AP1000 reactors in Sweden. There is also mention of the Westinghouse fuel factories' increased capability to produce VVER fuel and the possibility of delivering fuel to all Ukrainian reactors, hence increasing the security supply. The article is in Swedish. https://lnkd.in/d4kEY5ai

It looks like small-scale nuclear (fission) reactors are gaining some traction. These are 5-MW scale devices that take up only around 1 hectare of land. We definitely could use the sheer power of nuclear technology to supplant our massive consumption of fossil fuels as we aim for NET ZERO. I do think that larger more isolated nuclear plants used in conjunction with fuel cells and hydrogen placed closer to where people live could make more sense, but I am open to possibilities. How do you like small-scale nuclear power?
