The selection of GE Hitachi, Holtec, Rolls-Royce SMR, and Westinghouse for the next stage of Great British Nuclear's SMR technology process marks a significant milestone in the UK's pursuit of sustainable energy solutions. This development underscores the pivotal role of Small Modular Reactors in shaping the future of green energy. By narrowing down to these four industry leaders, the UK is poised to accelerate the deployment of SMRs, which offer numerous advantages including scalability, reduced construction times, and enhanced safety features. This strategic move reinforces the country's commitment to nuclear innovation and positions SMRs as a cornerstone of the UK's ambitious plan to achieve 24 GW of nuclear power by 2050.

We have signed a teaming agreement with Hyundai Engineering & Construction Company to pursue AP1000® technology opportunities in Sweden and Finland. Through the agreement, Westinghouse will provide the design and development of its industry-leading, globally deployed AP1000 technology, and Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co.,Ltd. will provide its globally recognized industrial engineering and construction services for the project. This agreement builds upon a 2022 strategic cooperation agreement between the two companies to jointly participate in global AP1000 plant opportunities. It also follows an MOU signed last year between Finnish utility Fortum and Westinghouse signed a MoU in June 2023 to explore the potential and prerequisites for new nuclear plants in Finland and Sweden. Rare Element Resources has received final permitting approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for Rare Earth processing and separation demonstration plant in Upton, Wyoming! Staffing at the plant is in place and operations shakedown are underway. https://lnkd.in/giSHbVE3 The Demonstration Plant, designed to advance RER's proprietary processing and separation technology, is expected to generate the operational & economic data necessary for the design of a commercial-scale plant. A major step forward, the commencement of operations is a carefully managed, phased process. RER is currently underway with this process, conducting final FAT testing, and completing checks on wiring, plumbing, and other key components. This thoughtful approach reflects RER's commitment to excellence and to progressing its innovative technology responsibly.
