We have published an independent report for EDF (UK) assessing the economic impact of its nuclear power stations.  We find that the current nuclear fleet has made significant contributions to the UK economy and the environment, contributing £123 billion in GVA, supporting 31,000 jobs annually, and avoiding 1.1 billion tons CO2 equivalent.   Read our full report here: https://lnkd.in/eP8bDPGg

Great to join EDF (UK) this afternoon as they kicked off #NuclearWeek in Parliament with the release of new research showing the economic contribution of the UK’s nuclear fleet. The report showed that 31,000 UK jobs were supported by the eight stations during the power generation phase - to say nothing of the 12,000 skilled workers currently engaged in the construction of Hinkley Point C. The UK was once a global leader in nuclear power, but we’ve squandered that advantage over decades of failure to invest in new build. Despite the life extensions of 4 stations, all but Sizewell B will be off stream by 2030 - making Labour’s Clean Power Mission even more difficult to achieve. With huge demand for electricity in the future - from decarbonising industry, the modern energy-intensive industry that is AI, and increasing reliance on electricity to heat our homes - we have to get on with Sizewell C. Not just to guarantee our energy security for decades to come, but to make sure we capitalise on the skills and experience developed in the construction of Hinkley Point C.

When people talk about Nuclear Power they always focus on the cost of building nuclear power stations. What they forget is that the cost is actually investment - good investment - in people and skills, in regional and local economies, in delivering clean and safe energy. The case for nuclear is overwhelmingly powerful and this report by Economic Insight, just one of many to highlight the power for good of Nuclear! To borrow a well known advertising slogan ‘nuclear refreshes the parts of the economy that others cannot reach’

This is another very informative Nuclear post that has failed to include Fusion Energy, Quantum computing, Ai, Robotics, mention Fusion Energy, Quantum Computing, AI, and Robotics or consider the market with Fusion Energy, Quantum computing, Ai, and Robotics in it. Even SMRs are being created in a non-fission form of Fusion using Quantum computing, Ai, and Robotics,. The report will lack full impact and informative detail and is doomed to be a dashboard of little use or need. It just wastes time and resources, and this is now becoming more evident in the nuclear fission industry in general. As much as I found the article quite informative, the author should have included their nuclear statement with the words "Fission and Fusion. Great to see that existing nuclear plants operated by EDF (UK) will continue to play their role in underpinning the decarbonisation of the UK’s electricity network, whilst new nuclear capacity is brought on stream.
