Just released on application of #ESCS in structural self-consolidating concrete: "Cyclic Behavior of Expanded Slate Lightweight Self-Consolidating Concrete Beam-Column Joints Containing Polyvinyl Alcohol Fibers" by Ahmed T. Omar, Basem AbdelAleem, and Assem A. A. Hassan Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador, Cairo University "This paper investigates the structural performance of light-weight self-consolidating concrete (#LWSCC) and lightweight vibrated concrete (#LWVC) beam-column joints (#BCJs) reinforced with monofilament polyvinyl alcohol (#PVA) fibers under quasi-static reversed cyclic loading." "The results also indicated that using an optimized #LWVC mixture with 1% #PVA8 fibers and a high LC/LF aggregate ratio helped to develop joints with significantly enhanced load-carrying capacity, ductility, and energy dissipation while maintaining reduced self-weight of 28% lower than normalweight concrete (#NWC)." #ligthweight #aggregate #concrete #expandedslate #selfconsolidating #PVA #fiber https://lnkd.in/gsJhGWFy

It was great to host PrīmX and share learnings and experience relative to real world applications. #EngineeringSuccess #PRIMX #PrīmX #JNEConsulting #Workshop #LargeScaleConstruction #ConcreteTechnology
Last week, our team participated in a workshop hosted by The JNE Group of Companies in Canada, focusing on large-scale heavy industrial concrete projects like steel mills. Primekss | PrīmX® Industrial Concrete Flooring & Structural was invited for our exclusive expertise with steel fiber-reinforced, self-stressing concrete (SFRSSC solutions, known for optimizing project cycles and delivering superior results. We shared strategies to address the unique challenges of harsh industrial environments, streamline construction, and accelerate both design processes and project completion timelines. Through recent, relevant experience, we demonstrated how our integrated, R&D-driven design-build approach—including admixture manufacturing and precision installation — supports clients achieve durable, ultra-low-carbon solutions tailored to meet the demands of evolving industries. Workshop team: Gatis Jasko, Kristaps Cirmenieks, Zaiga Pūķe, Martins Suta, Ransom Blevins, Pavels Adsons, Hans Stief, P. Eng, Mike Svarc, Aleksandar Jovic, Ian Scott. #PRIMX #PrīmX #JNEConsulting #Workshop #LargeScaleConstruction #ConcreteTechnology

🔨 Elevating Waterproofing Standards: The Role of Concrete Surface Profiles (CSP) Concrete Surface Profiles (CSP) are a game-changer in ensuring the effectiveness and longevity of waterproof membranes. In recent discussions with industry experts like Jerry Tyrrell and Sam Parker, it's clear that adopting CSP scales across Australia is crucial for achieving consistent and reliable substrate preparation. 👉 What is CSP? CSP measures the texture of a concrete surface, ranging from 1 (smooth) to 9 (rough). The right CSP, typically 3 to 4, provides the ideal surface for membrane adhesion, ensuring your waterproofing solution performs as it should. 💡 Why Does This Matter? Referenced in the upcoming Australian Standard 3958:2023, Table 4.1.3(b), and highlighted in the soon-to-be-released Master Builders Association of New South Wales Waterproofing Technical Guide, CSP is becoming a vital part of our industry’s language. It’s time we all get familiar with it! 📚 In My University of Technology Sydney Lecture last week, I showcased CSP samples to my students, emphasising their importance in practical applications. Curious about these samples? Check them out here. https://lnkd.in/g34NJgbV

We're delighted that Dr Chirag Ratwani, Graphene Technical Specialist at The Graphene Council, will open the Wednesday lunchtime session at The UK Concrete Show this year. The free-to-attend event dedicated to the UK concrete industry takes place from 26-27 February at the NEC Birmingham. As part of the session 'Graphene in concrete: performance, sustainability, and commerciality' Dr Ratwani will present 'Decarbonising construction using Graphene'. Graphene is a remarkable form of carbon known for its exceptional properties like superior strength, flexibility, and conductivity. In concrete, graphene can bring significant improvements in durability, sustainability, and overall performance. This presentation will look into the commercial aspects of graphene in concrete and how small amounts added to concrete can lead to substantial enhancements. Explore how graphene can transform concrete, making it stronger, more durable, and more environmentally friendly, highlighting its potential to shape the future of sustainable construction.
