Sometimes they can express excessive and uncontrollable anger, which can be directed onto insensitive individuals such as a parent or teacher. So it’s really important to find a safe option to express anger and frustration. Strength Vs Weakness Theres a belief that if you are struggling, you're weak. Nope. It takes a great deal of strength and courage to face into triggers from childhood. Feelings will emerge in us at times when we least expect them, simply because they need to be healed. Sitting with them and dealing with them is incredibly difficult. We at Handing the Shame Back Foundation understand completely. We all get angry from time to time but if you get angry over small things, it's time to work on it. Of course, anger can be due to underlying stress or frustration but one of the major reasons is past trauma that is still present in our subconscious mind. It can be a tough childhood where you saw fights, yelling, and beating every other day. Which can bring out fear and anger if you have even a small argument with your family/friends/colleagues or even strangers. You may feel hurt and get angry if someone didn’t invite you to a party because it triggered the feeling of being ignored as a child. This anger can also be coming from your parents because in your childhood, you saw them getting angry over things and as an adult, you behave in the same way. Being aware of when you feel angry and controlling is the 1st step towards healing. As your rage affects not only you but others as well. To work on your anger issues. Yesterday's post elicited an immense response. My inbox was filled with messages from those who are intimate with the loss of a person who has died by suicide. Best friends. Childhood friends. Friends of friends. Daughters. Husbands. Children. Geographically diverse. A combination of age, sex, and profession. Some sought help and were let down. Others kept it hidden well. Some didn't hide it, but also did not seek support. Suicide doesn't discriminate. It doesn't know borders. It is universal in its pain. In the chasm, the void, a black hole - where people fall in and are lost for months, years, decades, and yes, where some never return from, I found myself searching for answers. I reached out to a trusted confidant and asked, "How do we reach them? How do we get them to intentionally choose themselves, and to seek help and healing?" No one else could make me get help. For me, it was a catalyst that urged me forward, made me curious, and had me asking, 'what if?'. So what catalysts are going to do it for others? That answer is just as diverse and unique as the people who are struggling and killing themselves. His answer? "We plant seeds. We plant seeds and hope they take hold. We hope that they grow. We don't give up and we keep planting them." Please, keep planting seeds. Seeds of hope, seed of help, seed of curiosity, seeds of healing, seeds of friendship, seeds of acceptance, seeds of understanding, seeds of love. Just keep planting seeds for even one to take hold and grow. Those branches will be the ones that reach out and save lives. #seeds #plantseeds #seedsofhope #hope #love #support #acceptance #understanding #help #curiosity #catalyst #healing #savelives #whatif #branches #suicidesurvivorship #suicide #suicideawareness #suicideprevention #chooseyou #loss #pain #universal #reachout #whatsyourtwenty #wy20 #trauma #depression #recovery #possibilitiesareendless

You are responsible for your reactions, not your kids. Most of the time, when your kid makes a mess, what do you do? You shout, yell, and then make them walk on eggshells? Do you explode in rage and then blame them for the mistakes they made, which in turn made you angry? Breathe in, Momma! Your children are never responsible for your reactions. They are never responsible for your emotions and behaviors in response. You are responsible. If you, as a mother, find yourself reacting rather than responding to your children's challenges, this might just be an indication that you may need to take a break and strategize. It may be an indication that things are becoming overwhelming and you need support. It may be an indication that you need to learn, relearn, and unlearn the small things that you can put in place to avoid explosions. You do not want to be the mother who does not know how to manage her emotional responses. You do not want to be the mother who yearns for control at any cost. You do not want to be the mother whose children create space for, whose children make choices of disconnection even though they love you. It's okay to be angry, but how you express the anger will determine if it is going to heal or leave scars on your children. Momma, you are worthy of having beautiful relationships with your children. Lots of love, Lateefah. #nurture #nuturing #motherhoodjourney #motherhoodunplugged #emotionalintelligence

Most of us become shamed out of emotions as children. Doesn't it just come from parents when we start school, we're told to shut up, sit down, pay attention. We learn to suppress our emotions. All emotions serve a purpose. No emotion is either good or bad. It just is. Emotions are like warning lights on your car dashboard they’re there to let you know that something's wrong. Let you know that you need to make some adjustments or to get you out of dangerous situations. #innerchildhealing #anxiety #innerchildwork #stressrelief #anxietyhelp #anxietysupport #emotionalhealth #emotions #emotionaleating #emotionalintelligence

People who settle for love breadcrumbs often have low self-esteem, fear of being alone, or a deep desire for validation. They may believe they don't deserve more or hope the situation will improve, making them accept minimal affection or attention. Past trauma, insecurity, or attachment issues can also contribute to this behavior. #LoveBreadcrumbs #KnowYourWorth #SelfLoveJourney #DontSettle #HealthyRelationships #LoveYourselfFirst #EmotionalBoundaries #HealingFromLove #RelationshipAdvice #StopSettling
