The emergency project emphasized the direct link between disaster preparedness programs, good donkey and cattle welfare; life is better with donkey, cattle and improved livelihoods. With the continuing assistance from VERITAS, the trained farmers, users, children & youth, health champions, animal health providers and communities will practice the knowledge and thus serve as role models for others in Kasulu. It is our hope that Kasulu residents in rural areas have built their capacity to disaster preparedness and mechanisms oh improving donkey and cattle welfare and support activities for the long-term sustainability.
The emergency relief emphasized advantages of training w/animal owners and users so as they grow with positive ideas towards disaster preparedness and improving animal is welfare. Exchange visits and training featured in future activities for owners and users, thus providing benefits to community programs within a given area. Owners have signed up their timetable to fit animal welfare subjects with VERITAS Office. Such groups within communities will give the opportunity to spread knowledge to other like-minded people who have the best interest and welfare of the w/animal at the heart. As Community Donkey Care Clubs will be able to form their own strategies concerning the welfare of their animals. VERITAS will try to link donkey owners with school programmes. Collaborations with development agencies within Tanzania to empower communities with different skills and knowledge on livelihoods for better living and protection of animals’ donkeys and cattle included.
