How do we encourage young people to be the future leaders of the sustainability space? 🤔 By giving them the opportunity to engage with the industry and let their solutions be heard. This is what Professor Chiara Spina’s students did as part of their Master's in Management Program, where they undertook their final project in their Corporate Entrepreneurship class. 📃 On the 6th of June, Nupo Ventures’ VP Priyanka Mukherjee and Venture Architect Kennard L. were invited to INSEAD's Singapore Campus to assess a venture-building challenge we posed to them. They were tasked to explore ‘Digital Business Opportunities driven by the Sustainable Consumerism Trend’ and provide a 7-minute business proposal inspired by Nupo Ventures’ goals and visions. 🌞 The ideas presented were fresh, and explored a wide range of topics such as: - Creating inventory management systems to better tackle food wastage - Building AI solutions for cotton farmers to help them adapt to changing climates - Making sustainable packing more accessible to SME businesses in Indonesia - Leveraging emerging technologies to support farmers with capacity building and training etc. Priyanka and Kennard provided advice on building compelling business models for the eco-industry and suggested possible future directions to improve each of these ideas and their execution plans. An open line of communication between industry experts and young entrepreneurs ensures that as the field continues to grow, future innovations are being set up for success (benefitting all of us!). 🌿 Thank you to Professor Chiara for having us, and the students for letting us hear their wonderful ideas! . . . . #Entrepreneurship #Sustainability #Agritech #Innovation #Startups

We had the honor of hosting the University of Michigan's Center for Entrepreneurship for a tour and innovation challenge! This group of students brought their business savvy minds together to pitch dynamic solutions to the question we posed: How can we turn our waste byproduct, defatted algal biomass, into revenue? After the visit, we followed up with a couple of students to discover the ways they plan to apply what they've learned during their visit and how they aim to use business as a force for good ⬇ Yi WANG - Masters Student at the School of Environment and Sustainability, specializing in sustainable systems: "Personally, I am drawn to the intersection of cutting-edge technologies and innovative business models championed by forward-thinking companies. I am eager to contribute to their strategic planning and commercialization efforts, leveraging my expertise to propel their sustainability initiatives forward. I am also enthusiastic about collaborating with major corporations and international organizations to enhance their endeavors in waste reduction and carbon footprint mitigation throughout their operations and value chains. By leveraging my background in business and my passion for sustainability, I am hoping to drive meaningful change and foster a more environmentally conscious business practice. Checkerspot is at the forefront of a movement towards a future where we rely less on fossil-based oil products and instead leverage technology to develop more sustainable solutions. This not only enhances product functionality but also significantly reduces environmental impact. Through the pioneering efforts of companies like Checkerspot, I am confident that we can accelerate the transition toward a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future." Humza Irfan - Bachelors student majoring in Biology, Health, & Society and minoring in International Studies: "My vision is to harness the power of business as a catalyst for positive change, grounding my efforts in the principles of social entrepreneurship to tackle pressing health and environmental issues. I am dedicated to either developing or contributing to enterprises that place a premium on sustainability and health. By embracing business models that combine economic viability with meaningful social impact, I am committed to forging scalable solutions. The innovative approaches to making a difference I encountered at Checkerspot have been particularly motivating. I am drawn to the meticulous attention to detail and the profound understanding required to create such an impact. I believe it will allow me to see more things in the world through an innovative lens." At Checkerspot, we hope to continue empowering the next generation of innovators and forward thinkers. It was a pleasure having you, University of Michigan Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE)!

Designing Corporate Innovation Strategies 🧪 Developing New Products with AI | Entrepreneur | Keynote speaker | Lecturer at Bayes, City University of London | Nova SBE | FEUC | Técnico+ | AESE | 🇵🇹🇮🇪🇬🇧🌎
Fidelidade is demonstrating the importance of addressing #innovation as strategic as operations are. One good example in Portugal 🇵🇹. Fidelidade is using the venture-client model, intrapreneurship, venture-builder, CVC and reverse-CVC; it shows the importance of leveraging and combining different innovation models. More companies and leaders should learn from this example. Innovation is strategic; it’s not a pet project. #CorporateInnovation

Seven (Free) Tools for Sustainability Assessment in Startups! Embedding sustainability into your startup’s DNA is not just forward-thinking, it's foundational for enduring success. 1. Stanford Impact Compass With the Stanford Impact Compass, you can assess the impact potential of your startup. Even before founding, you can establish a clear mission, which is crucial for attracting investors and customers 2. Sustainable Business Canvas The Sustainable Business Canvas is content and structurally based on the Business Model Canvas and allows qualitative text input. It offers a clear template that is also suitable for presenting the sustainability aspect of your business model 3. Application tool of the DIN SPEC 90051-1 The practice tool of the DIN SPEC 90051-1 is a guideline for assessing the sustainability of startups according to European standards. The sustainability assessment consists entirely of qualitative multiple-choice questions and is suitable for both a rapid preliminary assessment or more thorough due diligence 4. Sustainability Management Checklist The Sustainability Management Checklist is already suitable before you have founded your startup and just want to get a comprehensive overview of potential measures in sustainability management 5. CircularStart The CircularStart tool allows you to evaluate your sustainability within the circular economy context, using a straightforward dropdown menu in nine categories for a simple, semi-quantitative assessment 6. LEVO The LEVO tool is explicitly developed for startups and is suitable for comprehensive monitoring and reporting of your sustainability. The assessment is done with a query of partly qualitative, partly quantitative values. 7. B Impact Assessment The B Impact Assessment Tool is not explicitly developed for startups but is still suitable for monitoring and reporting. It is also possible to certify your sustainability if you are already in the growth phase. The content and structure of the tool are based on the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Make sure to check out the full article by my colleague Johannes Bohren and team here: https://lnkd.in/dekWHmhU This case study was conducted in collaboration with Impact Hub Basel and University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW, enabled by Innosuisse #innovation #entrepreneurship #sustainability #sdgs #businessmodels #impact #circularity #climate #startups Basel Area Business & Innovation Stanford University Graduate School of Business Levo
