TLDR: The easiest way to transition into a new job title is internally. ✅ If there is an area in your company that you want to work within, start connecting and being visible that team and their initiatives. Diversity work was always an interest of mine but I had never been in a role officially with an emphasis on the work. I decided to join the internal DEI steering committee, scholarship panel and have ERG conversations. This eventually lead to me obtaining a few different integral DEI company roles. In short… become interested in projects in the areas you want to be in, connect with those leaders and be visible and most importantly recognize that even if you may not have the exact job title, you can still have the perfect skill set 🗣️❤️

March 2023, I had the privilege of attending Philly SHRM's one-day symposium and hearing Andre Young speak. His session left me inspired and changed the way I thought about accomplishments. He spoke about on how many of us, especially women, often go to bed focusing on what we didn't achieve rather than celebrating what we did. I decided to start noting down my daily accomplishments, and it wasn't easy at first. I had a habit of searching for grand achievements. But over time, I realized that even the seemingly small victories were worth acknowledging. My definition of accomplishment began to shift. Instead of solely focusing on work-related feats like "implementing a new mechanism that cut processing time from 60 to 15 minutes," I started appreciating moments like "spending quality time with my dog (instead working late to answer emails as quickly as possible)" or "finally catching up on much-needed sleep (even though I missed my workout)." This practice not only helped me find silver linings but also taught me to celebrate the little things in life. I even involved my husband in this exercise, asking him to share his accomplishment of the day. It allowed me to understand what made him feel accomplished and to celebrate his wins alongside mine. While learning new skills to advance our careers is important, I've come to realize that learning to enhance our entire lives is even more valuable. Looking back on a year's worth of written accomplishments, I can see how this simple practice has enriched my perspective and life. I can’t wait to see what we “accomplish” this year.

A new period of count begins. Though time is a human abstraction there is a magical quality about the change of years and the start of count anew. With that, the New Year resolutions make their way in our minds. “New Year, new fortunes” is a Bulgarian proverb I pondered over in the last day. I like New Year resolutions. It is wonderful that we humans seek this betterment - that is how I see resolutions. I do believe we excelled as species (arguably, or arguably we did not) due to New Year resolutions. But yes, the search to do better, and do less of what’s held us back. I love these reflections of Do more of, What held me back in accomplishing, Wins, What I am proud of. On a year’s “canvas” they gain weight. I would just say regarding resolutions - put a larger dose of the execution mindset - what I’ll accomplish then ways to start, and be easy on hope (that which we do not control; but love “that is the thing of feathers”). Tried to start that preaching with my two kids yesterday evening. I think they’d had too much wine to get it :). Happy New Year to everyone, to my family and friends! To work for better version of ourselves and our environment.

EXCELLENCE. It's a term casually inserted in conversations, used on resumes, and in corporate marketing etc.. But what really qualifies or describes excellence? Are we excellent at something because we have a lot of experience, or education, or achievement awards? Is there one prevailing definition or is it subjective? How or can it even be measured? "Excellence, is the continual emphasis on innovation and increasing knowledge while delivering the highest quality of support and services." B.J. Stasio, a DDEI expert and advocate for equity, self-advocacy and equal access described it this way today at a presentation I attended and I loved it, it is perfectly simple and yet very complex. Excellence; It's not static. It's always learning, always expanding your mindset, your practical skills, and searching out new ideas and paths to deliver the support and service that clients, our peers, and the world need to move forward into the light of the new year. My resolution for this new year is to grow and flex my excellence muscles in framework of B.J. Stasio's definition in my professional and personal life. Happy New Year 2024 to all!

🎉 Achieving the Presidential List: A Journey of Hard Work and Balance! 🎉 I’m beyond proud to share that I’ve made the Presidential List, and it wasn’t an easy road to get here! Balancing work, life, and pursuing a new career has been one of the most challenging things I’ve done. It’s been a delicate dance between work hours, family, running my business, and dedicating time to my studies. There were times I wondered if I could keep it all together. Long nights, early mornings, and moments of self-doubt tried to take me off course. But I learned that finding the right balance was key. March ending..... Do you think the end of March is pressured and stressful ? and people work hard only for appraisal ? For me the answer is No,....... I believe that in March, we shouldn't work hard solely for appraisals but rather to prove ourselves It's a good opportunity to look back at our progress for the year and prepare for upcoming goals. While working under pressure, think about your progress from last year, everything will be fine, and your stress and pressure will decrease. Work hard,year-round to achieve personal and professional goals, contribute to your organizations, and grow in your careers.
