An evaluation comparing TMS and ECT treatments indicated that TMS, specifically targeting the left DLPFC, achieved a higher remission rate with an 82% response rate. In contrast, ECT showed a response rate ranging from 75% to 83%. rTMS is a non-invasive therapy that does not require hospitalization, unlike ECT. It is favored for managing depression symptoms in patients with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). For further insights into these treatment options, stay informed with Sebers Medical.

In our latest study published in Cell, the findings have revealed alarming trends in the burden of musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders among adolescents and young adults (AYAs) aged 15 to 39. The findings have significant implications for clinical practice and highlight the need for targeted interventions to prevent and manage early MSK disorders. • Implications for clinical practice: 1. Prioritize prevention and early management of MSK disorders in AYAs by implementing screening programs, providing targeted education on lifestyle modifications, and ensuring timely access to appropriate therapeutic interventions. 2. Address the social determinants of health and promote health equity by advocating for policies and programs that support healthy lifestyles and reduce the burden of early MSK disorders across all socioeconomic strata. 3. Collaborate with policymakers, public health officials, and community stakeholders to create environments that promote musculoskeletal health and prevent the development of early MSK disorders. As physicians, we must recognize the critical importance of focusing on MSK disorders in AYAs to establish lifelong patterns of health and reduce the disease burden in the era of an aging population. By implementing targeted interventions at the respective optimal ages and addressing the contributions of high BMI and kidney dysfunction, we can significantly impact the trajectory of MSK disorders and improve the quality of life for our patients. • The link to our study: https://lnkd.in/dPsSVMfG #MusculoskeletalHealth #MSKDisorders #AdolescentHealth #YoungAdultHealth #PreventiveMedicine #EarlyIntervention #HealthEquity #HealthDisparities #LifestyleModification #BodyMassIndex #KidneyDysfunction #LowBackPain #Osteoarthritis #Gout #NeckPain #SocialDeterminantsOfHealth #CollaborativeCare #PublicHealthPolicy #ClinicalPractice #PatientEducation #HealthPromotion #AgingPopulation #ChronicDiseasePrevention #MusculoskeletalResearch #CellJournal #GBDStudy

Evidence for Ketamine Infusion Therapy for PTSD, Major Depression, and Suicidal Ideation Ketamine infusion therapy has been studied for its rapid and significant effects on reducing symptoms of PTSD, major depression, and suicidal ideation. 1. Reduction in Suicidal Ideation: - Ketamine infusion significantly reduces suicidal ideation in patients with treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, with effects observed as soon as 40 minutes post-infusion and lasting up to several days! 2. Effects on Depression: - Repeated doses of ketamine have shown to improve depressive symptoms in patients with treatment-resistant depression, with sustained effects seen up to three months post-infusion! 3. Efficacy in Real-World Settings: - In real-world clinical settings, ketamine infusions have been effective in reducing both depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation, demonstrating feasibility and safety for broader application! 4. Impact on PTSD: - Significant improvements in PTSD symptoms, including reductions in intrusive thoughts, avoidance, and hyperarousal, have been observed following ketamine infusions in veterans with comorbid PTSD and depression! Ketamine infusion therapy is an effective and rapid intervention for reducing symptoms of major depression, PTSD, and suicidal ideation. Its rapid onset and sustained effects make it a promising treatment option, especially for treatment-resistant cases and acute suicidality! Vestibular neuronitis is an inflammatory disorder affecting the vestibular nerve, a crucial component of the inner ear responsible for balance and spatial orientation. This condition typically manifests as sudden and severe vertigo, accompanied by nausea and imbalance. Individuals with vestibular neuronitis may experience difficulty walking or standing due to the disruption of their vestibular function. While the exact cause is often unclear, viral infections, particularly those affecting the inner ear, are considered common triggers. Symptoms usually peak within 24 to 48 hours and can persist for several days, gradually improving over weeks. Medical professionals may diagnose vestibular neuronitis based on clinical symptoms and exclude other potential causes. Treatment focuses on alleviating symptoms, with medications targeting nausea and vestibular rehabilitation exercises to enhance balance and reduce dizziness. Though vestibular neuronitis rarely causes long-term issues, its sudden onset and impact on daily activities highlight the importance of seeking prompt medical attention. Increased awareness about this condition can aid in timely diagnosis and appropriate management, ultimately enhancing the well-being of those affected by vestibular neuronitis. #VestibularNeuronitis #InnerEarHealth #BalanceDisorders #VertigoAwareness #ViralInfections #InnerEarInflammation #NeurologicalHealth #Dizziness #HealthAwareness #MedicalConditions #VestibularRehabilitation #WellnessJourney #earhealth

It continues to amaze me how prevalent cormorbidity is between pelvic floor disorders and other chronic health conditions. We know chronic coughing is a #pelvicorganprolapse causal. Two presentations covered cystic fibrosis at #AUA2024 (hat tip to Reuben Samuels and Georgia Brown). I had an in-depth conversation with Georgia about the CF impact to the pelvic floor due to CF chronic coughing. This is another zone APOPS needs to keep on our radar. Based on the conversation with Georgia, who clarified her physician indicated incontinence is not related to CF, this intersect needs better inclusion in practitioner curriculum. Pelvic floor disorders are COMMON. The world needs to wake up. https://lnkd.in/gqBVZjZB Study conclusion: The prevalence of functional urinary and faecal disorders was high in adults with CF and impacted on quality of life and respiratory care. Therefore, multidisciplinary teams must have knowledge of symptoms, the diagnostic tools and management strategies to provide specific treatment. #APOPS #womenshealthempowerment #EveryVoiceMatters #BelowtheWaist #TheBiggestSecretinWomensHealth

PD is a progressive neurological disorder characterized by a range of symptoms, including tremors, stiffness, slowness of movement, and difficulty with balance. While there's no definitive cure, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can significantly improve quality of life. Diagnosing Parkinson's disease involves a combination of medical history, physical examination, and, in some cases, additional tests, as mentioned by NIA and Parkinson's Foundation. 🔹 Medical History: Your doctor will review your symptoms, family history, and any medications you're taking. 🔹 Physical Examination: Neurological tests will assess your movement, reflexes, and coordination. 🔹 Levodopa Test: In some cases, a medication called levodopa may be administered to evaluate your response and confirm the diagnosis. 🔹 Other Tests: Imaging tests (MRI, CT scan) and blood tests may be used to rule out other conditions. If you experience any of the following symptoms, it's important to consult a healthcare professional: — Tremors (shaking) — Stiffness or rigidity — Slowness of movement (bradykinesia) — Difficulty with balance and coordination Early diagnosis allows for earlier intervention and can help manage symptoms more effectively. 🧑⚕️ Remember: Parkinson's is a complex disease, and symptoms can vary widely among individuals. Don't hesitate to seek medical advice if you have any concerns about your health. Your health is too important to wait—take the first step toward understanding and managing Parkinson’s today. #parkinsonssymptoms #parkinsons #parkinsonsdaignosis #detectingparkinsons #LightForPD #parkinsonsdisease #parkinsons #parkinsonsawareness #parkinsondisease #parkinsonsdiseaseawareness #parkinsonawareness #caregiver #goodnews
