We genuinely believe that most people want to make choices that best benefit their health. Nutrition science is not always straightforward, and often we have conflicting results which make it harder for the consumer to know which path to choose. This is 'normal' within the scientific community - no single study should ever be used to make sweeping recommendations to all people. To complicate matters more - we have "scientists" (we are using quotes here because we feel they are doing a disservice to the scientific community and public knowledge) who make outrageous claims like this one. We are here to call out the junk science, questionable partnerships and the food industry. The people deserve to have accurate information to make their own informed choices. #nutrition #followthemoney #foodindustry #truth #science
Not all "science" is science

Ever wonder why some communities struggle with higher levels of undernutrition?🤔 Our teams answer this question by using Nutrition Determinants Assessments (NDAs) to explore the various factors impacting nutrition in different areas. While these assessments are invaluable, they can be time-consuming and costly. But we have exciting news! In partnership with Global Nutrition Cluster's Moderate Wasting Initiative, we've created a faster, more cost-effective method to pinpoint key factors of undernutrition in communities.🙌 During a pilot test in Nepal, the new Rapid NDA Method enabled our teams to engage meaningfully with communities and efficiently identify the drivers of undernutrition, helping us design impactful solutions. You still can’t change the pH of your body by eating an “alkaline diet” or drinking alkaline water. Your body has really effective mechanisms and buffer systems that restrict changes of pH. That’s a good thing. A change in pH would be a serious medical issue. And unfortunately, while these diets make a lot of claims of health benefits, there isn’t evidence to support them. These diet patterns can be incredibly restrictive, leading people to be at risk for malnourishment issues as well. Nutrition misinformation preys on emotion to lure you in and exploit your vulnerability. Scientists have a duty to correct it in all forms. For those who want more granular science, including how these buffer systems work, and some of the other questions about alkaline water (like use for GERD and interstitial cystitis), read my free newsletter on the topic.
