𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝. Some people feel overlooked and unqualified when they don’t get any replies or job interviews from the companies after applying for several jobs through job platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, and JobsDb,… You know what? Recruiters often can’t read every CV because of the volume of CVs they get through platforms. For Myanmar job seekers especially those fleeing from Myanmar because of political crisis, the challenges are compounded by stringent employment law in countries like Thailand and Singapore which require a 4:1 local-to-foreigner hiring ratio. Despite these obstacles, there are some practical tips to improve your job search success: 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: Use LinkedIn to connect directly with hiring managers and recruiters. Express your interest in specific vacancies to make a personal connection and increase your chances of being noticed. 𝐓𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Customize your CV and cover letter for each job. Highlight relevant skills and experiences that match the job description to stand out. 𝐔𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬: Regularly check job platforms like Indeed, Glassdoor, JobsDb, and LinkedIn. Set up job alerts to stay updated on new postings. 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Invest in learning new skills or obtaining certifications that are in demand in the target job market. Online courses can be very helpful. 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐬: Understand the work permit requirements and employment laws of the target country. Be prepared to explain your eligibility and benefits to potential employers. 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬: Engage with online communities or local groups of Myanmar expatriates for advice, share job leads and moral support. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩: Consider recruitment agencies specializing in expatriate placements for guidance and access to unadvertised job opportunities. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭: Job hunting can be challenging, but persistence and a positive attitude are crucial. Each application is a step closer to your goal. I hope these tips will help you in your job search! #rocketforce #recruitment #jobsearch #guidance #myanmarpeople #opportunities #challenges #employmentlaws #youths #talents

HOW TO USE TRANSFERABLE SKILLS TO CHANGE CAREERS. Transferable skills are a set of core skills that you can use in any job, regardless of your title or industry. These skills are not dependent on your job responsibilities. Examples of transferable skills include problem-solving, communication, leadership, and teamwork. When you decide to change careers, for example, from teaching to marketing, you should consider the following: As a secondary school teacher with 6 years of experience, you love teaching and helping students learn and grow. However, feeling the need for a change and a new challenge, you obtained a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Lusaka University in Lusaka, Zambia 🇿🇲. You would utilise skills from your previous role such as: ✅️ Problem-solving skills to design and implement effective lesson plans, demonstrating how you used your communication skills to deliver engaging presentations and interact with students, parents, and colleagues. ✅️ Your leadership skills to manage the classroom and mentor new teachers, providing evidence of how you improved the academic performance, engagement, and satisfaction of your students using these skills. Your attitude and personality can play a significant role in changing careers. A key trick for writing a career-change CV is to review the job description and identify the skills and requirements needed for the role. Then, match them with the skills you possess and provide examples of how you have applied them in your previous education, work, or volunteer experiences. In conclusion, do not hesitate to network to create opportunities that you might not find through traditional job searching methods. 💁♀️ Hunting story - What is the most difficult placement I have ever made? 4 years ago, I managed to place a candidate from Malaysia in Cambodia from Vietnam. This was particularly challenging because Cambodia was not a popular destination for expats. Many people were skeptical about the opportunities there and often found it "boring" at first glance. Additionally, the role required a Chinese-speaking candidate, which reduced my "willing to relocate" talent pool by 40%. LinkedIn blocked me twice because I sent numerous InMails with a very low response rate; people simply ignored my messages. I had to ask a friend to translate my message into Mandarin and provide me with Chinese keywords for better Boolean searches - attracting mainland Chinese candidates who preferred not to speak English was a nightmare, especially since I didn't know any Chinese and had to sift through many profiles written in Chinese to find the right one. I can't remember how many calls I made and how many times I got ghosted on WeChat (which is also not common in Vietnam). Eventually, I assisted two candidates (one ghosted me after receiving the offer), but the other accepted the job. It took me more than 6 months to find a suitable candidate and several more months for the visa and processing. My candidate became a successor in the company and supper happy with her life in Phnom Penh (until now we still haven't had a chance to meet each other in person). She sometimes shared with me how much she enjoys living there, the people, and the numerous growth opportunities. This made me feel that all the effort was worth it. A few years have passed, and things have changed significantly. The opportunities in Cambodia have become clearer, and my client has grown, requiring more vacancies to be filled. Thanks to my former candidate, who is now my client, I have the chance to work with them again on more roles. I am more confident and motivated than I was four years ago to work on these roles and change people's perceptions about Cambodia. If you're seeking challenging and promising opportunities to step out of your comfort zone, have a think about it 😊 #cambodiajobs #relocation
