Very soon, we will be launching our new project, and we are very excited! :D But before that I want to talk a little bit about the personal journey that led to the decision about launching this particular project. It all started for me an evening in November a couple of years ago, while driving home from the office. For a long time I had not felt the fire in the belly that I had previously, and for a long time I just thought it was a phase. Motivation is not constant, and those phases come and go. But this had been persistent for a long time and it seemed to be getting worse. I believe that life is too short to not have passion for what you are doing 8-10 hours a day and so this was a problem that needed solving. I needed my fire back. So I started asking myself a lot of questions: - What gave me the fire in the first place? - What work would give me the fire in the belly? - What would i be doing if I didn't have to think about money? - What are my interests besides my current work? - What do I currently believe, that is just not true? A lot of different answers came up, and I had a lot of back and forth with myself about what to do. After some time, some conclusions were crystal clear: - I get fired up when i am able to create things from my own ideas - My interests summed into one word is: Entertainment - I am creative at heart. The tasks that I enjoy doing are the creative ones. - My original goal was to learn business, so that I could go into one of the creative entertainment industries that I love so much - If i didn't have to think about money I would probably be working on my own creative projects every day - I falsely believed that I had to make a lot of money before i could afford to do something creative because of the high risk At this point it was clear that I had to make some tough descisions. I had to find a way to make a transition from my current companies (Saxis.dk and Capino.dk) into a new project more based on my actual interests And I also had to find out what this project should be like i said, this was a couple of years ago and it has taken until now to actually do that But as of this thursday I am officially stepping out of Saxis and Capino and within November, we are going to found the new company. I am beyond excited! My how time flies! Ten years ago today, I started at Advyzon , making the leap from a steady job at a huge company, to a startup with a brand new product and no clients. Back then, our first baby was only 1. As we considered the opportunity, my wife and I were talking and I shared that if we did this, I’d have to work harder than ever before and it won’t even be close. Understatement 🤣 We’d also be taking a big risk and a big reduction in pay, at least to start. In return, I'd have the opportunity to work with great people day in and day out who share the vision of how to build a great product and company and have a little fun in the process. The first few years were full of learning: getting a proper phone system and website up and running, effective marketing campaigns, conference sponsorship, to shopping for office space, there was always something new to dig in and learn. A special note of thanks to our earliest clients, who no doubt could tell that we were learning and had tremendous patience as Advyzon had a few growing pains. Too many people have made massive contributions to our organization over the years to thank you all personally in a single post. Certainly, Hailin Li, Ph.D., CFA for his confidence in bringing me on board to launch this thing. Dirk Pearson for immediately jumping at the opportunity to join the team as our first Client Success Manager. Joseph Webb, Matt Braatz, Mark Netjes, David O. for making leaps of their own when success was far from certain. Rounding out my early team, Charles Rowlan, CFP®, CIMA®, who took his time, but finally joined a couple years later. Over the years, it’s been tremendously rewarding to work with so many great people, both those we’ve worked with in the past and those we’ve built new relationships with: Shaolin Li, Allen He, Michael Williams, Kelly Fitzpatrick, CFP®, Ryan Staples, MBA, Ryann Ramos, Bridget Niemeyer, Lee Andreatta, MBA and the Advyzon Investment Management, LLC. (AIM) team, Shane Young, Kartik Srinivasan, Dave Goes, and so many more. To our Advyzon clients- it’s been a true pleasure to work closely with so many of you. Hopefully, our product and our service have been impactful on your businesses, whether your goals are to grow & scale or simply spend more time doing what you love personally or professionally. Your continued trust is something we cherish. Lastly, my family, especially my wife, Mandy M. Mackowiak, deserves a special thank you. The risk to even do this, the stress that went along with it to get started, the long hours and frequent travel weren’t, and still aren’t, easy. I said at the recent Advyzon Conference that 2024 is a celebration of our first decade, but also, the launching point to the next. I could not be more excited about all our team has accomplished and all that is ahead. Cheers to the next decade! 🥂

On Friday I was promoted to interim Head of Customer Success at Volunteero 😂 Here is what I learned! Allow me to explain. Our wonderful customer success team, Josie Robinson and Jennifer Mars are both major Swifties (for those who've been living under a rock, this means fans of Taylor Swift) This meant both took the day off on Friday which was incredibly brave of them as they knew it meant leaving me in charge... 🙄😬 1. Crikey did we hire well with those two!! Both take such ownership and pride in what they do. Both reached out to me the day before and the day of to let me know that they'd left everything in a perfect state and to let me know of any issues and to pretty much wish me luck 😂 What a position to be in where you team take beyond founder level ownership. LESSON ONE - CONTINUE TO HIRE THOSE WHO WANT AUTONOMY AND ARE PASSIONATE. Culture is as much bottom-up as top-down, get the right team and you will be a huge step towards the culture you want to build. 2. Customer success is super taxing and rewarding in equal measure. It requires patience, empathy, organisation, good time management and a deep understanding of your clients. LESSON TWO - UNDERSTAND THE ROLES AND CHALLENGES OF YOUR TEAM INTIMATELY. It will allow you to be a better leader. 3. I should do more of this kind of thing. It has been a while since I have supported clients on a day-to-day basis and finished with a feeling of pride and excitement. It gave me a refreshed understanding of how our clients are using Volunteero, how it is benefiting them and feedback on how it can be better. LESSON THREE - STAY CLOSE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. This is founder 101 but sometimes you can drift with the myriad of priorities involved in building a business, find ways to keep that north star in focus. Although I feel we do know these things and try to keep them front and centre, last week was a great reminder! "We want you to leave PartnerHero a better version of yourself." This is the mantra of working at PartnerHero. This is the story of how I left PartnerHero about a month ago. I acknowledge how deeply privileged I am. One of the key practical implications of the privileges of my life is that "I just work with stuff I like." Translating, that means three things: 1) I was surrounded by people I deeply admired… 2) ...who were doing challenging work… 3) ...to make the world a better place, even if by a little bit. What really mattered was the fact that I was able to meet daily with great people from all around the world who were doing their best every day to make the BPO industry (notorious for being a soul crusher) a place that does right by its people and changes their lives and the communities they live in. Being in such an environment inspired me to be my best self personally. A bit of a cliché, but two of my biggest learnings there were (1) that there are no mistakes and (2) that it is the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world that eventually do. Also, never even in my craziest dreams did I imagine that in 18 months I would be able to grow professionally so much. I touched, was involved in, or directly owned really amazing initiatives. M&A, Private Equity, Strategic and Financial Planning. Briefly managed 12 teams that were working collaboratively to deliver an innovative offering. Co-led an initiative to save $1M dollars company-wide. Implemented OKRs strategically, cross-functionally, and departmentally in a global 3000+ employee firm. Spoke at two international events as an OKR specialist… and the list goes on and on. At the end of the day, all of this was only possible because of the people I stumbled across on this crazy journey. Thank you so much to everyone at PartnerHero. I definitely left as the best version of myself so far. Hopefully, I was able to leave a bit of myself with you all too. Best, Thales. Today I begin my journey as an associate in Business Advisory at AltWay.
