Thank you once again to Holly Quan and KCBS Radio for giving me the opportunity to talk about the importance of fair chance hiring and for helping me bring more awareness to such a vital issue during #FairChanceMonth. There are over 48,000 collateral consequences or laws nationally that hinder individuals from reentering the workforce or accessing essential services. These unnecessary barriers perpetuate cycles of poverty and recidivism, preventing individuals from rebuilding their lives and becoming contributing members of society. It's time to recognize that individuals who have served their time in the justice system deserve a fair chance. Behind every arrest history is a human story—one that may involve circumstances from years or even decades ago. Thankfully, more and more businesses are recognizing that qualified candidates can come from all walks of life. In fact, this diverse lived experience can actually strengthen innovation and contribute to a rich company culture. Let's keep working together to break down barriers and create pathways to opportunity for all. Remember, we’re not trying to lower the bar, we’re trying to lower the barriers. #FairChanceHiring #FairChanceMonth #KCBS #Interview

April is Fair Chance Hiring Month, a time when advocates nationwide unite to address barriers for people who have experience with the justice system. Connecting reentrants with employment and training opportunities promotes self-sufficiency and fosters community engagement. Through fair chance hiring initiatives, we strive to level the playing field, ensuring everyone has an equal shot at life-sustaining employment. Between 70 and 100 million Americans grapple with some form of justice involvement, ranging from arrests to felony convictions. People returning from incarceration often encounter stigmas when looking for jobs. The presence of a criminal background can reduce an applicant's callback rate by 50 percent. It’s this systemic bias that we’d like to shine a light on during Fair Chance Hiring month. To learn more about Fair Chance Hiring Month please visit. https://lnkd.in/gjYDDCcY #FairChanceHiringMonth

#funfridayfact: Let's pretend you are a worker wasp in July. You live in a lovely nest and have a great job protecting your queen from anyone trying to invade. Nectar, fruit, and insects are plentiful. Life is good. Then, one day in August/September, after your queen lays its eggs, she leaves without saying goodbye to hibernate. You and all the workers around you are suddenly laid off. The nest is completely abandoned. Food becomes scarce. You now have no home, no job, and no consistent source of food. You start roaming around anxiously, diving into dumpsters and eating rotted, fermented fruit that causes you to get drunk and angry (yes, this is real). You find random groups of humans eating food outside and start aggressively attacking, desperate for nutrients, and stinging them if they get in your way. Your brain is only set up to "protect the nest," and now that the world is your nest...everyone is an enemy. This is exactly why wasps are so mean and aggressive this time of year. #openmotivepositions: We are actively hiring SDRs in Austin and Nashville. Open to recent college graduates. Please apply using the link below if you are interested! https://lnkd.in/gk9Yz2Hu

May certainly showed signs of a shift, with more role availability across the South West. 🔹 Indeed and Total Jobs saw a drop in the number of roles however there were big increases via LinkedIn and a small increase on Reed 🔹 69% of placed candidates were sourced by us, as opposed to applying for the role directly 🔹 Applications per advert declined slightly from the start of the year, however, this is still on the up from 2023 and 2022 Get more insights 🔗 https://shorturl.at/xF0mx #employment #employmentmarket #business #hiring #southwest Exeter Chamber

📢 Did you know? 🔹 Did you know that hiring felons can have a positive impact on your workforce? 🤔 ✅ Hiring justice-impacted individuals can bring numerous benefits to your organization and the community. Let's explore why it's important to consider this untapped talent pool: 1️⃣ Diverse Perspectives: Felons often possess unique life experiences that can contribute to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Their perspectives can bring fresh ideas, creativity, and problem-solving skills. 2️⃣ Loyalty and Dedication: Studies have shown that employees with a criminal record tend to be more dedicated and loyal to their employers. Given the opportunity to rebuild their lives, they demonstrate a strong commitment to personal growth and professional development. 3️⃣ Strong Work Ethic: Many justice-impacted individuals understand the value of second chances and are highly motivated to prove themselves. Their determination to succeed often translates into a strong work ethic and a willingness to go the extra mile. 4️⃣ Access to a Larger Talent Pool: By considering candidates with criminal records, you can tap into a larger talent pool and find skilled individuals who may have been overlooked by other employers. This can help address your workforce shortage and fill critical positions. 🤝 We are excited to announce that Indiana Reentry Corporation is collaborating with local employers to create lasting partnerships.
