Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Post

We're launching Automated Enforcement Cameras on 14 bus routes across the city, in partnership with New York City Department of Transportation! These cameras will automatically issue violations to vehicles that obstruct bus lanes and bus stops, as well as double parked vehicles. These new cameras are now active on the B44-SBS, B46-SBS, Bx12-SBS, Bx19, B62, Bx41-SBS, Bx36, M14-SBS, M15-SBS, M23-SBS, M34-SBS, Q44-SBS, Q54, and Q58 routes. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eGtP-x33

Good start, but when are they being deployed more widely? I ride the B37, B57, and B103 regularly and every single day there are double parkers and TONS of people parking in bus stops. As a wheelchair user, I frequently have to get off directly in the street, which is incredibly dangerous. Not only is it in the street, but the ramps are not designed for that sharp angle and it is very difficult to navigate without getting thrown out of my chair into an active roadway.

Upon ACE implementation, NYCDOT will issue warning notices to drivers for the first 60 days, in accordance with State law, before issuance of double parking and bus stop fines commence. For routes with existing ABLE camera enforcement, the 60-day warning period will apply to bus stop and double-parking violations only. Tickets will continue to be issued for bus lane violations during this time. Each corridor with active ACE camera enforcement also has signage indicating that these routes are camera enforced and the hours of enforcement.

I fully support laser-equipped MTA buses that lift cars up and drop them into trapdoors in the road. And also the ticketing thing.

I hate this city and all the ridiculous garbage that they do!!!

Here is a question that probably won't be answered. Why are the buses ticketing other MTA vehicles that are working in these areas? My shop has gotten a few of these. Going forward I as a CDL driver will drive around in circles all day while 20 maintenance workers do nothing because I have all the tools and equipment. I will not stop until I find a legal spot. This is just ridiculous and idiotic.

MTA Bus Driver: "I worked so hard to earn this position, I hope I don't mess up" MTA Supervisor: "May the Force be with you" MTA Bus Driver: It's my first day on the job. I'll try my best" MTA Supervisor: "Do or do not. There is no try" MTA Bus Driver: Why waste time and the power of the Force just to move some illegally parked cars? Worked on that as a consulting inspector for the vendor who installed these cameras, quality equipment and very professional install teams. This system has much more potential.
