Last week at Grand Central Madison, our Latinos & Friends employee resource group hosted “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together," a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration! The event featured MTA leaders like Demetrius Crichlow, Lisette Camilo, and Lourdes Zapata and celebrated numerous members of the Hispanic community and the array of accomplishments they've brought to departments across the MTA. #HispanicHeritageMonth Long Island Rail Road Metro-North Railroad

This morning, Governor Hochul joined us at the The Graduate Center, City University of New York for a networking event attended by more than 250 businesses to connect MTA prime contractors with potential MWBE (Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise) subcontractors, as well as graduates of the MTA Small Business Development Program. This event coincides with our plan to award a historic amount of contracts to historically underutilized businesses as part of the 2025-2029 Capital Plan, including New York State Certified Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses (SDVOB), and/or Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE).

Introducing the Avoided Carbon Calculator! This new feature on the TrainTime app allows Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad riders to see the environmental impact of taking the train instead of driving! The tool calculates the carbon emissions avoided compared to the same trip by car. Whether you’re a daily commuter or occasional railroad rider, you can now see firsthand how getting even one car off the road can make for a greener region. Happy Climate Week! #ClimateWeekNYC

The MTA Board has unanimously approved the proposed 2025-2029 Capital Plan, which outlines a $68.4 billion investment in the region’s subways, buses, railroads, bridges, and tunnels to ensure New Yorkers continue to have reliable, accessible, and sustainable transit. Next, the Capital Plan will be submitted to the MTA Capital Program Review Board (CPRB) by October 1, who will then have 90 days to review and approve the plan.
